Projects

  • Ontario Sustainable Community (OSC) project

This group project (cluster) is based on the VM0018 quantification and verification methodology certified according to the VCS standard. In August 2022, the project was registered as in development under the VCS program, with ID #3004. Analysis and research for the project document design (PDD) began in the spring of 2021 and led to the drafting of a Project Idea Note (PIN), which was filed in the Verra registry in June 2022. The sectoral scopes involved are energy demand (scope 3), methane…

Analysis and research for the project document design (PDD) began in the spring of 2021 and led to the drafting of a Project Idea Note (PIN), which was filed in the Verra registry in June 2022. The sectoral scopes involved are energy demand (scope 3), methane avoidance (scope 13), and transport (scope 7), all acting on the demand side. The buildings included (serving as the calculation perimeter) encompass tens of thousands of SMEs, businesses, institutions, and NPOs, all located in Ontario.

Revenue from the sale of carbon credits will enable the distribution of tens of millions of Canadian dollars to all CSQ members, in proportion to their qualified climate actions (micro-projects). This demonstrates the financial additionality of the Ontario Sustainable Community project, supported by the circular business model of Will Solutions.

  • Quebec Sustainable Community (QSC) project

    - Present

This group project is based on the VM0018 quantification and verification methodology certified according to the VCS standard. In May 2021, the Quebec Sustainable Community (QSC) project obtained its renewal under the VCS program for the period 2020-2029, achieving an additional 34.5 million tCO2e in reductions. In July 2013, the project was validated by a recognized VVB and then certified by the VCS, with ID number 929. As of September 2024, the cluster project has converted several types of…

In July 2013, the project was validated by a recognized VVB and then certified by the VCS, with ID number 929. As of September 2024, the cluster project has converted several types of reduction efforts (2010-2021) into a total of 9.5 million tCO2e of verified emission reductions. A seventh cohort is being quantified for the calendar year 2022, which will be verified and serialized in 2024. The sectoral scopes involved are energy conversion & efficiency and methane avoidance. The buildings included in the cluster (serving as the calculation perimeter) consist of hundreds of SMEs, businesses, institutions, and NPOs, all located in the province of Quebec and not regulated by its cap-and-trade system.

As of June 2023, seven distributions of income from the sale of carbon credits have returned more than CAD $3,8 million to all QSC members, in proportion to their climate actions (microprojects). This demonstrates the circular business model and the financial additionality of the Quebec Sustainable Community project.

    - Present

After a large third cohort participation, Sustainable Community has July 2019, a inventory of 3,5 million tons of GHG reductions which were all verified by a third party. Establishment of an unique pilot project carbon exchange on the voluntary market supported by the Sustainable Community solution with over 150 SMEs, NGOs and para-public organizations in Quebec/Canada, in collaboration with the Réseau des SADC et CAE du Québec, allowing identification of eligible micro-projects, their…

  • Addendum to the VM0018 certified methodology under the VCS program

    -

Research and updates to the Methodology VM0018 (2022-2024) to include micro-projects based on Sector Scope 7 in Sustainable Community Clusters were submitted to Verra for validation in May 2024. More details can be found here https://solutionswill.com/en/were-udpdating-our-methodology/.

The revision of the VM0018 methodology aims to add specific group projects and their Project Activity Instances (PAIs) related to the reduction of GHGs associated with transport (sectoral scope 7), using…

More details can be found here https://solutionswill.com/en/were-udpdating-our-methodology/.

The revision of the VM0018 methodology aims to add specific group projects and their Project Activity Instances (PAIs) related to the reduction of GHGs associated with transport (sectoral scope 7), using buildings as the calculation perimeter. Additionally, minor adjustments will be made to the existing VM0018 methodology concerning GHG reductions associated with sectoral scope 3 (fuel switching and energy efficiency projects) and methane avoidance (sector scope 13), based on our field experience from seven Monitoring Reports completed and verified by a VVB from 2010 through 2022. This revision follows specific requests from client facilities (2017-2020) and other stakeholders (Appendix A, Section 6) to include this type of GHG reduction from their climate actions in the Quebec Sustainable Community project (QSC) in Quebec (ID 929). This aligns with the original intention of Will Solutions (formerly Gedden Inc.) when creating VM0018 to include such scopes, as stated in an early version released by VCS in October 2010.

It aims at satisfying the needs of organizations for tracking the municipal waste, in terms of compilation, processing, recording and reporting data on-line from the municipal sector. MET-R-I-S is a solution providing quantitative measurement of the effort involved in rerouting of recyclable materials at disposal sites, such efforts which can be monetarized in carbon credits.
