🚨 Salesforce Stumbles 🚨 Salesforce's Q1 results missed revenue expectations, and Q2 guidance also fell short. The full-year subscription growth outlook has been downgraded to "slightly below 10%". On the call, the company noted moderated buying behavior due to elongated deal cycles, deal compression, and higher budget scrutiny. A new spending outlook for 2H24 will be available soon. Onboarding SDRs is critical to whether or not they succeed in the role. The 2024 State of Sales Development report shows that revenue orgs spend $6-7,000 per rep annually on tech. That does not include what you pay to recruit them, their salary, or other ancillary costs. When you calculate what this represents compared to how long they stay in the role (less than 24 months on average), you better have an incredible onboarding plan to optimize their cost-effectiveness. Salesforce just said what everyone in enterprise sales is feeling: Buyer scrutiny is up and deals are taking longer 😑 Ways I'm seeing folks mitigate the status quo: 1. Ignore the old models. The calculus has changed. More people, more dialing, more QBRs...is no longer linearly correlated to # of deals closed. 2. Lean into partnerships. A properly executed channel strategy can help you widen personas, increase depth, and enhance consensus with prospects. Activate them early with joint wins, even small ones, to get them moving. 3. Know your numbers. Its impossible to adjust expectations, forecasts, strategy...without having a baseline on your historical sales cycle. Bonus points for getting micro on segment, industry, geo, etc... What other ways are you seeing enterprise sales pros bucking the trend in 2024?
