Infrastructure Ontario most recent document defines the type of Delivery model as "a collaborative approach" between the Owner and its contractors during early work - Design & Specifications particular to the project in concern. Compared to P3s, PDB delivery model utilizes a target-price similarly to a traditional Design-build, rather than a fixed price enabling P3 model style. Stantec to Lead Engineering and Environmental Consulting for Major Arctic Infrastructure Project in Canada Stantec Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, has been selected by West Kitikmeot Resources Ltd. (WKR) to continue advancing engineering and environmental consulting services for the Grays Bay Road and Port Project in Nunavut, Canada. This Arctic infrastructure project is designed to provide direct access to the Northwest Passage, bringing significant economic benefits to the region. To support the project, WKR has signed memorandums of understanding with the Government of Nunavut and the Canadian Infrastructure Bank, securing additional financial backing. Since 2016, Stantec’s Inuit-owned partnership, Nunami Stantec Limited, has played a key role in the project. This partnership, formed between the Kitikmeot Corporation, Sakku Investments Corporation, and Stantec, offers environmental science and engineering consulting services across Nunavut. Once completed, the Grays Bay Road and Port Project will create a nationally significant northern trade corridor. It will strengthen Inuit and Canadian sovereignty, unlock critical mineral resources, and drive economic growth in the North. The project will connect a deepwater port in the Northwest Passage to Contwoyto Lake via an all-season road, linking it with the Tibbit-to-Contwoyto Winter Road. Four ways that Canada’s civil engineers lead the way on sustainability 🌎    Canadian civil engineers stand out on the global stage for their commitment to sustainability, embracing innovation and collaboration to set new standards for infrastructure development.   Whether it is through innovative design, low-impact construction methods, or embracing alternative materials, they are committed to providing optimum results and efficiency while minimizing environmental impact at every turn. And it is something the rest of the world could learn a lot from.    Here are four examples of their ingenuity in action:    ➡️ Shoring design – Helping to support nearby sites and structures during excavation, engineers embrace advanced shoring techniques and approaches such as soil nailing, soldier pile walls, micropiles and ground anchors to minimize disturbance, reduce projects’ carbon footprints, and improve on-site safety.   ➡️ Water engineering – Recognizing the importance of safeguarding water resources, Canadian civil engineering uses innovative designs and methods to ensure wastewater treatment plans, stormwater management and water distribution networks achieve maximum efficiency with the lowest environmental impact.   ➡️ Structural design – Balancing sustainability with optimum function and longevity, engineers use cutting-edge techniques, technologies and materials to develop buildings that will stand the test of time. Examples include high-performance concrete, renewable energy systems and carbon fibre reinforcement.   ➡️ Land development – Canada endeavours to create meaningful, impactful and sustainable communities by adopting a holistic approach to land development.
