Last week I had the opportunity to attend the #Future IT Toronto summit, organized by IDC Canada Events focusing on the Interplay of Generative AI, Cloud and cybersecurity and their impact on the changing business landscape. A very well-organized conference with a thoughtfully curated agenda of relevant sessions on topics centered around the theme of Gen AI and its impact on business- Myth Vs Reality, the event provided a perfect platform to learn from a great line up of speakers from across the IDC and partner organizations. While each session had a wonderful learning nugget, the following were my key takeaways from the day: - Generative AI holds the promise of impacting and changing the shape of business like never before. The possibilities are endless and the numbers are staggering. However, the journey to embracing new tech is never linear and there are likely to be several course corrections along the way. Therefore, it is extremely important not to get swayed by the sentiment, but carefully examine the current challenges within your industry which could be great first use cases for increasing productivity or customer experience or both. Test & learn continues to be the mantra! Great session by Daniel Saroff - In a world which is generating all kinds of data at an unimaginable pace, the challenge still remains of unifying disparate data sources, applying the right filters to be able to derive the much needed insights, necessary for decision making. The promise of Gen AI being a game changer is also predicated on the quality of data, reinforces the belief of data being the contemporary oil. Imagine the impact of Gen AI, powered by LLMs trained with high quality data. Great conversations with James Scott, Rudy Irish, Kevin Krempulec, Daniel DuFault - Finally, the acknowledgement and deep appreciation of the fact that the desired business benefits through advancements in technology can only be realized through investments in happiness of people, who are at the heart of this AI revolution. The session on empathetic leadership and building high performing teams moderated by Lee Rennick with Renate Cunneen and Manas Khanna sharing personal anecdotes of learnings, successes and failures was a great reinforcement in the power of compassionate leadership. A day well spent. It was great to be back in the real world, with real people! Super cool event management by Allice Shandler. Looking forward to continuing the conversation and being the change!

Incredible news for the tech ecosystem of the UAE. Microsoft's expansion into Abu Dhabi will not only strengthen the region's innovation capabilities but also shape product roadmaps to the unique needs of the region. Having been part of Microsoft's journey in India, I saw firsthand how Global Development Centers can transform tech landscapes, nurture talent, and foster groundbreaking startups.
