  • ReachOut (Won 8 medals out of 8 at GiftTheCode Hackathon 2016)

We designed and realized an online platform called ReachOut for Pflag Toronto, to facilitate a confidential and anonymous communication between Pflag mentors and LGBTQ persons in need of support. Through this platform, people who have previously sought support can also request promotion to mentor themselves, thereby helping Pflag expand the volunteer/mentor network through the platform.

Developed during GiftTheCode Hackathon 2016 at Toronto.

The DementiaHack 2015 event had 70+ participating teams with about 350 people. Our team won the category prize in the 'Diagnosed Individual' category and also bagged the Facebook Prize for the hackathon.

Users can add timers, edit, and delete them. Also, users can scan their loyalty or membership cards using the camera and add them with the option of editing and deleting those cards at any time. Two levels of evaluation were done with iShop:
a user study and a technical evaluation, with particular concentration on the battery and network bandwidth consumption. The user study results showed that 50% of users would like to use iShop. Also, the technical evaluation results showed that battery consumption was reduced by lazily pre-populating geo-fences.

  • Sparky: A Gesture Controlled Home Automation

    -

The goal of this application is quite straightforward; improve the current state of home automation user interaction. To perform this, we go about it in three ways. Firstly, we improve the communications between mobile and the physical devices in the home. Secondly, we implement gesture recognition as a device-toggling mechanism. Third, we build our prototype using publically available devices, which will allow users to extend our work
