“What are the ‘resi’ agents like at your brokerage?” I get asked this pretty often by CRE brokers, since I work at Royal LePage. Let me tell ya something. The resi agents I have personally spent time with are absolute grinders. They will: - spend $10k on staging, small renos and crazy marketing for a house in order to have a shot at selling a house and making a $25k commission (the outcome is sell the house and net $15k or don’t sell it and lose $10k) - work every single weekend and evening - door knock to develop new business - heavily invest in salaried staff - start out doing a very high volume of tiny lease deals that barely pay just to make ends meet One guy is going to do north of 100 residential leases this year in his first full year as an agent (approx $1,500 in commission per deal). He’s 22. What an inspiration. Small sample size but some resi agents are absolute DOGS in the best way.
