The CSA announces a contract award to a Canadian company for a high-profile European space project. Kepler Communications Inc. will act as the prime contractor for European Space Agency - ESA’s HydRON-DS demonstration, the biggest role a Canadian company has ever played in any ESA mission. This opportunity is possible thanks to Canada’s longstanding cooperation agreement with European Space Agency - ESA, which allows Canadian companies to bring their expertise and skills to the European market. Some of the other contracts enabled through this agreement: ⭐ C-CORE will design and build a calibration transponder for the Biomass mission. ⭐ SBQuantum will assess the viability of its quantum diamond magnetometer in space, and ESA will evaluate the reliability and precision of the sensor and explore its potential deployment on satellites. ⭐ ABB Analytical Business Unit will provide the Laser Unit for the interferometer of the Forum mission, ESA’s ninth Earth Explorer satellite mission. SDA issued a request for information seeking #industry feedback for the Tranche 3 Tracking Layer of the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (#PWSA). The request for information provides an opportunity for industry to offer feedback in advance of solicitation posting. The T3 Tracking Layer will continue the capability to provide global, persistent indications, detection, warning, tracking, and identification of conventional and advanced missile threats, including hypersonic missile systems. This letter proposes to apply two rank correlations, namely, #Kendall's #tau (#KT) and #Spearman's #rho (#SR), to the fundamental problem of #detecting known #signals in impulsive noise. Under the popular Middleton's Class-A impulsive noise model, the authors derived the expectations and variances of KT and SR, which, along with the central limit theorem, are further employed to determing the detection threshold and the detection probability. 🌌 Calling all Space Fanatics - We have very exciting news to share! 🚀 MPBC is currently developing a 100 W optical amplifier for spaceborne use and a 1000 W optical amplifier for ground stations. These innovations aim to facilitate Tbit/s data transmission from space to Earth. Supported by esteemed entities like the Canadian Space Agency | Agence spatiale canadienne (CSA) and the European Space Agency - ESA, these endeavours look to redefine laser communications in space, offering an array of practical applications. 🛰 The capabilities of these advancements are endless. This project will enable possibilities for broadband internet access to remote populations devoid of such connectivity options. Additionally, they promise to enhance the efficiency of space exploration missions by enabling real-time data transmission back to Earth, bolstering the telecommunications infrastructure in the process. Crucially, MPBC's successes in space wouldn't have been possible without the power of collaboration. Our partnerships with governmental organizations such as the CSA and ESA, academic institutions, customers and suppliers have been instrumental in advancing optical technology for space. #SPACE 🚀 Boosting Canadian space launch capabilities The TSA creates a framework to protect sensitive technologies and intellectual property, including launch vehicles and satellites, enabling secure collaboration on space-related projects. This agreement enhances the strategic partnership between Canada and the United States and fosters growth in Canada’s commercial space sector by permitting the launch of US technology from Canadian soil. NASA seeks industry support in GLIMR concept study WASHINGTON - The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has announced that the agency is seeking assistance from industry as it begins a study into its Geostationary Littoral Imaging and Monitoring Radiometer (GLIMR) Access to Space (ATS) approach. The GLIMR mission aims to provide transformative rapid observations of dynamic coastal zone ecosystems throughout the Gulf of Mexico (GoM) and coastal continental U.S. (CONUS). Its goal is to observe and monitor ocean biology, chemistry, and ecology to help protect ecosystem sustainability, improve resource management, and enhance economic activity.
