🌟 The Power of Responsibility in Career Growth 🌟 I joined Hyperbots Inc. last November, right at the early stages of its #growth. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗢𝗻: Friendly Prompts and Messaging: Instead of standard, robotic instructions, I’m designing conversational prompts that guide users through the assessment in an engaging way. 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗦𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Brainstormed how to integrate dynamic hints (powered by AI later) to help users fill out assessments with ease. 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁: Adjusted colors and spacing to make the health assessment screens visually calming—a small but powerful factor for user trust. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: Health can feel overwhelming, but Khayr aims to make it approachable. I will tell you a hack to improve your domain knowledge. Whatever the domain you belong to such as frontend, backend, qa etc do the below. 1. Goto ChatGPT / #gemini or other internal genAI portals of your company. 2. Create a chat where you ask the genAI to give you daily updates/trending news/some cool updates about your technology. 3. Also inform the genAI agent that you will enter a shortcut ex: today, update etc and it should provide your ask. 4. Everyday before starting the work, just open it and get an update about your domain and start your work. This will keep you up-to-date about your domain and you can make a positive impact in discussions. Managers don’t get to code often. So I code for recreational purposes 😁. Believe me, It does have a somewhat meditative effect on one's mind. And as a bonus, something good always comes out of it. These days, coding has become a lot easier and a lot more fun due to AI. Now one can concentrate on the application without worrying too much about the programming language and other tech nuances. I believe soon even the non-techies will become programmers. 🔶️ System design interviews can often seem intimidating, but with the right approach, you can walk into them with confidence! After going through my own journey of preparation and practice for companies like Uber and Amazon, I’d like to share a strategy that could help you tackle these interviews with confidence and clarity 👇 1️⃣ Start by Clarifying Requirements System design problems are intentionally vague. The first and most important step is to ask clarifying questions. Here’s what you should focus on: Functional requirements Non-functional requirements User base and traffic estimates 2️⃣ Divide and Conquer: Break Down the Problem Instead of trying to design everything at once, break the system into components or subsystems. Start with a high-level architecture to give a broad overview of the important components. Then you can Focus on: Data Storage Communication Scalability Reliability 3️⃣ Think in Trade-offs System design is rarely about finding the perfect solution—it's about choosing the best option for the given constraints. Discuss trade-offs with each decision: Consistency vs. availability (CAP theorem) Latency vs. throughput (performance considerations) Complexity vs. simplicity (engineering time vs. technical debt) This shows the interviewer you understand that every choice has consequences and you're thinking critically about the problem 👩‍💻 4️⃣ Prioritize and Iterate ⏰ In most system design interviews, time is limited. Prioritize the most critical parts of the system first, then iterate on your design. It's okay if you don't get everything perfect in the first pass. Start with a simple design and improve it as you go. You can always add: Load balancers for better distribution Caching to improve speed Sharding for large databases Eliminate Single point of failures 5️⃣Communicate Your Thought Process Good communication is key in system design interviews. Be clear about: Why you’re choosing a particular solution How you’re considering scale, reliability, and other factors Any assumptions you're making, and confirm them with the interviewer 6️⃣ Be Prepared for Follow-Up Questions 💡 Be ready to discuss how your design scales with increasing load. Think about how your system handles failures and what mechanisms are in place for recovery. Be prepared to discuss alternative solutions and why you chose your particular approach. 7️⃣ Practice Design Patterns and Common Scenarios Engage in mock interviews with peers or mentors to get feedback and refine your approach. Work on design challenges and case studies to practice articulating and justifying your designs. The system design interview is more about your approach than the final design itself. Stay organized, prioritize, think about trade-offs, and communicate clearly. How I Started Making 💸 a Million a Year 😎! Recently, at a gathering, I reconnected with an old friend—an almost 80-year-old NRI millionaire 🌍💼 who had returned to India 🇮🇳 from Canada 🇨🇦. We were sitting at a table 🍽️ with eight other folks, all farmers 🚜 earning decently in India. Curiosity got the best of me, and I started wondering what the average income 💰 of each person at the table would be. After a quick calculation, the result came out to be just over a million a year. So, technically, I'm a millionaire too, right? 🤑 But wait… am I really a millionaire? 🤔 Of course not! ❌ What just happened? 🤷‍♂️ As I pondered this, my elderly friend left the table to refill his glass 🥂. I recalculated the average income with just the remaining people at the table, and guess what? It was much closer to my actual earnings. The problem with my first calculation? An outlier 📊. In data analytics, dealing with outliers is essential 🧠. You can’t just send them off to refill their glasses, so techniques like the IQR method or Boxplot in Python 🐍 come to the rescue. Also, using the median instead of the mean often gives a more accurate picture when outliers are involved. Properly handling outliers in your data can eliminate skewness and significantly improve the accuracy of your analysis. Trying to apply principles from ancient Indian philosophy in writing better code. A “Sutra” is that which is concise (Alpākṣaraṃ), unambiguous (Asandigdhaṃ), essential (Sāravat), universally applicable (Viśvatomukham), free of unnecessary detail (Astobham), and flawless (Anavadyam). Applying the attributes of a Sutra to coding: 💡 Conciseness (Alpākṣaraṃ): Less is more! Keep code efficient and minimal. 📘 Unambiguity (Asandigdhaṃ): Clarity is kindness. Use descriptive names, avoid “magic numbers,” and comment only when necessary. 🎯 Essence of Value (Sāravat): Every line should have purpose. Focus on core functionality, not bloated code. 🌐 Universality (Viśvatomukham): Make it adaptable and reusable. Use modular functions and design patterns for flexibility. 🧹 Free from Unnecessary Detail (Astobham): Avoid over-engineering. Meet current needs with simple solutions and save complexity for when it’s essential. 🔒 Flawlessness (Anavadyam): Aim for rock-solid reliability and security. Review, test, and refine. Today we completed high-level designing of a communication app like WhatsApp, Slack, Messenger for Business, Microsoft Teams, Telegram Messenger, etc. We took almost ~3 classes (each class being more than 2.5 hrs thus a total of approx ~8 hours on one problem) to discuss this completely in-depth. So many features, use cases, etc. were discussed. Phew! * We started right from scratch understanding how to handle basic 1:1 messaging. * We understood how something like WebSockets would help here. * We continued extending it by including more features like receipts, deletion of messages, etc. * We discussed in detail how to implement async processing and where to do it. * We also discussed how to handle large group messaging by using batching and when to use it and when not. * We also talked about how to design storage for both storing group members and the history of messages. As part of it, multiple approaches were discussed with their pros and cons. * And many other things... That moment when you include different, but hidden, markup for mobile / desktop with different LCP candidates on each. Your desktop LCP candidate is not present on SSR content, only mobile candidate is (css hidden) which makes the Desktop not part of the critical rendering path and gets buried under loads of React hydration events, GTM, data fetching for component and site wide stuff. You get up to 11s LCP on desktop (depending on connectivity and processing power). There's a bug on this page which we are fixing. It's one of those things that are not obvious at first glance. The image is found around 9s and fully loaded and processed around 11.5s.

Information Systems - Softwares that help businesses and individuals to run their day-to-day work. The first category also needs these information systems to run their businesses! If you hire someone to develop and manage the first category systems—core computer science and engineering systems—data structures and Algorithms are essential. Please continue asking those geeky, mind-bending puzzles in the interviews. Let's accept the fact that most of us are building information systems. Adding, updating, and removing data from databases and external APIs, writing business logic, and processing background data constitute nearly 100% of our daily tasks. To hire people to do this, there is no point in asking for Data Structures and Algorithms. Even the textbook-style LLD and HLD questions are irrelevant. You would actually need a customized problem statement based on the systems you are building, which you should give as a take-home assignment to hire people. After they submit their solution, do another round of pair programming, where you tweak the original problem statement by introducing a new requirement or modifying the existing requirement and observe how they respond and react to address this.
