Throughout your career, you and your employer allocate a portion of your earnings to CPP with each pay, up to an annual threshold known as the Years Maximum Pensionable Earnings (YMPE). When should I start collecting CPP? CPP payments build up your CPP benefits which you can begin receiving as early as 60 or at 65 unreduced. Your monthly CPP payment decreases by 0.6% for each month you opt to begin receiving benefits before 65. This would be a total of a 7.2% annual reduction. For every month you defer beyond age 65, up until age 70, your CPP payment increases by 0.7%. This equates to an annual growth of 8.4%. #CPP #penionplans #benefits
