“I had the privilege of working with Chelsie at TELUS. I quickly came to appreciate Chelsie's humour and quick wit. However, what really struck me as unique about Chelsie is her ability to set and deliver on massively ambitious goals. Once Chelsie sets her mind on a problem, she figures out how to solve it and never tires in tackling the issues from every angle necessary. She won't rest until she has found a way around the obstacles. Oh, and she's an absolutely magnificent public speaker!”

Nomination for Roots - Nicest Person in Canada
North Bay Nugget
I am the proud older sister to Alaya, who I nominated for the Roots search for Canada's Nicest Person. Alaya, placed 2nd in this just-for-fun contest. I am the proud older sister to Alaya, who I nominated for the Roots search for Canada's Nicest Person. Alaya, placed 2nd in this just-for-fun contest. The Nomination read: She’s a lot like me, but nicer, and more French.” This 19 year-old debuted her community involvement at a very early age. Volunteering alongside her grandmothers Lucille and Doris, Alaya would help prepare dinners for Meals on Wheels, make snacks for the school breakfast program, lead the bingo at the seniors home, and volunteer with the local Lioness chapter. For this work and more, she was recognized as the “personnalité jeunesse franco-témiskaming” in 2016 by l’ACFO. Her unwavering dedication to her community earned her tickets to We Day for many years. Her volunteerism not only spanned events in her rural community, but was also demonstrated internationally on a trip to Jamaica where she constructed homes and visited orphanages. Bitten by the travel bug and the desire to experience other cultures she visited Japan and Italy before graduating from high school. Alaya has been globally minded and has celebrated diversity of people for as long as I have known her – which is forever. I should really be saying “My sister is a lot like me, but nicer, more French, and braver” because Alaya is also a volunteer firefighter. She walks around the house with her pager at her hip anxiously waiting for a call. She is literally on call to jump inside a burning building to help someone. She is currently a college student and is working towards a career in health care. If you need further proof of her niceness just sit down and watch a movie with her. She typically tears up at the sight of any act of kindness in film or television, and has been doing this since she was five years old, while her older brother and I would point and laugh at how overly sensitive she is being. Alaya sees the best in people, she wants the best for people, and she is always willing to help. She is Canada’s nicest person.
