YOU CAN TELL ALOT A MAN BY WHATS ON HIS FEET. This is a valuable lesson I have a learned over many years of going to client meetings and social events. I do think about it much more than I used to. A landmark moment was a former colleague providing some good natured but honest feedback about a suit and shoe combination I was wearing after we met a client. I thank her for it because it has stuck with me. Infact I messaged her recently about it! She later also threw my tie in a bin but that’s another (true) story. A dilemma for me still is what the hell is smart causal today?! I wore some very smart ‘trainers’ on stage recently but I was always shown the way of brown shoes, smart jeans and a shirt. Anyway, to bring you further into my world (head), I think the same is true by what socks a bloke is wearing. Myself, I increasingly align my daily sock choice to what I’m doing that day. It now impacts the socks a buy ahead of time… Examples Lion (courage) - client meeting, pitch, speaker slot Elephant (never forget) - team meetings, 1-1s, charity events Chameleon (adapt to environment) - networking, corporate events Rhino (move forward) - tough meetings, personally challenging situations I wish this wasn’t true but it is!! Where it gets weirder is where I’ll mix them 😂

These are some of the greatest moments! Today my daughter and her cousin decided to start their first business, a lemonade stand. But, before I allowed them to setup I made them cost out all their overhead, shop and compare pricing for raw goods, and set sales targets. Why? Because by teaching them how to run a business the right way allows them to build something real and not just a memory. Oh and in case you are curious all in fixed cost was $.11 per cup. Sales targets were set at 12 cups per hour, $10.68 /hr of revenue at a 50/50 split of profits making each girl $5.34 /hr. Their plan is to work today for 4 hours making them each $21.36. They will then deduct $5 each for investing in additional stock for tomorrow netting them $16.36 for the day. May not sound like a lot but to a 9 & 10 year old that is good cash! #girldad #startup #firstbusiness
