Why should you conduct a team leadership skills assessment?
In my experience regular team leadership skills assessments are crucial to increase self awareness about blind spots the team has in certain areas. The process also provides opportunities to reflect on and provide feedback- triggering useful conversations that might not otherwise happen. That builds a ‘muscle’ which reminds the team these things are important and increases the health and adaptability of the team as new situations arise

How can ESG frameworks help companies innovate?
Good ESG frameworks enable companies to shift from seeing ESG as a risk to avoid, to identifying and calibrating upside from great ESG practices. Upside can come from top line growth ( new products and services), cost reduction (waste reduction/ sustainability practices can reduce input costs >20%), productivity improvements (from more motivated employees), and lower debt costs (1.1% lower WACC for ESG leaders versus laggards)

How can ESG frameworks help companies innovate?
A rigorous framework and approach to ESG helps calibrate risks which might have been unseen and led to massive value destruction- for example on the S dimension paying a living wage reduces attrition 30%, a huge benefit in a scarce labour environment. A good ESG framework would include a good look at labour practices which determine the health of a company’s important ‘soft’ assets which can walk right out the door very easily!

How can ESG frameworks help companies innovate?
In a tight job market where winning the war for talent is harder, strong ESG/ sustainability approach is crucial. 64% of millennials consider a company’s ESG commitments when deciding where to work, and 70% of all employees say their decision to stay is affected by their employers approach to sustainability

The Power of Aligning Leadership, Strategy, and Execution
Bruce Simpson, Tiffany Vogel
This chapter builds on extant approaches to corporate social responsibility (CSR) to make the case for change being needed now more than ever before. The chapter goes on to describe the benefits of a longer-term view in driving shareholder and stakeholder value and, through an examination of typical modes of CSR and various case studies, argues that to sustain long-term transformations, a “trinity” of visionary leadership, mindful strategy, and flawless execution must be in place. The chapter concludes by acknowledging the scale of the challenges ahead and by making a global call to action in charting a new corporate frontier. -
