WAIT Are you telling me that now Shopify is using LLM's to make more simple the generation of GraphQL queries?? 😮 .dev Assistant gotta be one of the best features for developers from Shopify, you don't know how complicated it can be for someone to jump into GraphQL without previous knowledge (and the docs are not so easy to read for the beginners). 🌟 Reflecting on an Incredible Journey 🌟 As my 4-month co-op term as a Senior Co-op Technologist (Software Development) at Seneca Polytechnic comes to an end, I'm filled with gratitude and a sense of accomplishment. 🎉 From the outset, I was warmly welcomed by my team and guided by amazing mentors. In my first month, I dove into testing student forms in PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, navigating manual testing and eventually moving into form development. This was just the beginning of an enriching journey. Throughout this experience, I had the chance to work on the PeopleSoft PUM upgrade, delving into new features, testing them, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to assess their value for the business. This project was a fantastic opportunity to engage in both development and quality assurance, expanding my technical and analytical skills. During my fourth month, I took on the challenge of creating test documents for automation. This task was crucial in streamlining future testing processes and allowed me to understand the intricacies of automation in software development. Daily scrum meetings played a key role in refining my approach, with invaluable feedback from my peers and mentors that guided my progress. Key Learnings: 1. Iterative Development & Feedback: Weekly sessions were instrumental in refining my work and enhancing my development skills. 2. Technical Documentation: Creating detailed test documents honed my attention to precision and clarity, a vital aspect of successful automation. 3. Collaboration: Working with cross-functional teams deepened my understanding of integrating different perspectives into software projects. As I wrap up this co-op experience, I'm excited to carry forward these learnings into future endeavors. Hi peeps! Does any of you wonderful people have a favourite software to run a mentorship program in medium-sized company? We're looking for some automation, especially for matching mentors and mentees for a group of ~150 people to begin with, potentially expanding to up to 500 or so. At this scale matching folks manually becomes a bit of problem. I would imagine, someone has solved this problem really well by now. Lay offs drag to the light a fundamental lie about corporations. Companies will never reciprocate your loyalty. You are ultimately numbers to the people balancing budgets, because that's how the game most of them play works. Make sure you plan accordingly, and make sure you always negotiate with that in mind. Don't give a second of your life for free to them. The only loyalty you owe is to the people working with you to make beautiful and amazing things.
