Well done Bec. Your employee centric analysis of providers ultimately resulted in a great partnership. I think most people see an EAP as a reactive service and some withdraw at the idea of communicating such personnel aspects of their lives. To combat these perceptions, it was great to see the volume of content available in the prevention space, especially that available directly through the app.

This is the kind of PR the Mining Industry needs! "Mining continues to be viewed less favourably among those polled compared with other sectors but there has been a slight increase in positive perceptions from 24% in 2020 to 27% today. There is a belief that mining has good pay and benefits (65%), that there are lots of jobs available (58%), yet only 26% think the work is safe. Thirty four percent would consider a career in the mining sector – an increase of 3% compared to 2020." I am excited to share that I recently completed my LEAN White Belt training at Cameco Corporation, guided by our fantastic instructor, Gordon Mosher (who, by the way, has an enviable convertible!). The training offered an in-depth look into LEAN principles, helping us rethink processes to maximize value and minimize waste. We delved into LEAN principles and tools like Gemba, Jidoka, Andon, and Kaizen-all of which underscore LEAN’s commitment to efficiency and quality. Key lessons included eliminating the 8 forms of waste, understanding the 4 Value Principles, and using the 5S methodology to create organized, productive spaces. This training really highlighted how small, consistent improvements add up to big gains in quality and productivity for workflows and processes. Understanding Lean Thinking and Balancing Lean empowers us to create efficient, value-driven environments. Each of these elements support a culture of excellence and improvement. In recent years tremendous progress has been made in standardizing and quantifying measures of performance on environmental, social, and governance (#ESG) criteria. There has also been a surge in investor interest in companies that are rated highly on ESG performance or appear to be taking ESG goals seriously. Friday Rock Day! Today we have a Serpentinized Ultramafic from eastern Canada. The rock is a Peridotite originally composed largely of Olivine ((Me,Fe)2SiO4), Orthopyroxene ((Mg,Fe)2Si2O6), and Clinopyroxene (CaMgSi2O6). This rock has been altered by hot fluids under the ocean floor replacing much of original Olivine with Serpentine ((Mg3Si2O5(OH)4), in a process called Serpentinization. In this sample there also some very fine grained Awaruite (Ni3Fe) (which is a naturally occurring nickel iron alloy and is being researched for Nickel (the metal) production), Chromite ((Fe,Mg)Cr2O4), and Magnetite (Fe3O4). Peridotites also host minerals that are important for carbon sequestration as they can readily alter to carbonate, drawing CO2 from the atmosphere. It has also been recently discovered that Peridotites can form naturally occurring hydrogen (termed gold hydrogen). Various groups are seeking to determine the potential for natural hydrogen and how we can capture it. All in all a very neat rock type with a lot of interesting and important potential. #fridayrockday #geology #peridotites
