If you’re a charity, here's what you need to know about receiving donations during the postal disruption via provincial drop off centres. ✅ Donations collected at the 24 Distribution Centres in Manitoba are sent to Materials Distribution Agency (MDA) in Winnipeg. ✅ MDA will contact your charity to let you know the donation is ready for pickup at 1715 St. James Street. ✅ When you receive the call, please confirm the name of the individual who will be picking up the donation. Manitoba has proudly held the title of Canada's most generous province for an incredible 20 consecutive years, amid national decline. 💛 Key stats from The Fraser Institute recent study reveals Canadian generosity is at a 20-year low: 📊 19.3% of Manitobans donated to charity in 2022—the highest in Canada. 📊 Manitobans gave 0.71% of their income, leading all provinces in generosity. We understand the challenges many are facing—rising costs and tighter budgets make giving harder. Yet, it’s during these times that every gift, no matter the size, has an even greater impact. Today, in 1948, the United Nations approved the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, marking Dec. 10 as International Human Rights Day. 🌍🌍🌍 In 2003, we pledged a $6.2 million grant, paid over a decade, to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) – making it the largest grant in our history. In 2019, The Winnipeg Foundation in partnership with the CMHR hosted the Common Ground Human Rights Symposium bringing together 13 community foundation leaders from across Canada. ANOTHER AMAZING GIVING CHALLENGE! In just one week, community foundations across the province raised more than $2.07 million during the 2024 Endow Manitoba Giving Challenge! 🎉 Gifts to unrestricted funds made between Nov. 12 and 17 were stretched, thanks to support from The Winnipeg Foundation and the Manitoba government. This extra funding increased the impact of every donation— helping generous Manitobans make an even bigger difference with their local foundations. Each foundation was eligible for up to $4,000 in stretch funding. 🙏🙏🙏 Thank you to everyone who gave.
