Major Capital Grants are transforming spaces for children, youth, and families in our community by investing in Early Childhood Education and accessible community programming. 🤝 We’re delighted to support Huron Child Care Inc., S.P.L.A.S.H. Child Care, YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg, Oseredok Ukrainian Cultural and Educational Centre, and Manitoba Indigenous Cultural Education Centre Inc. in their efforts to improve, revitalize, and establish new programming. Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, we’re building ‘a Winnipeg where community life flourishes for all’ — one grant at a time. 💗 Visit our website for more details on how you can support future community projects! https://loom.ly/qNkCUS8 #Winnipeg #MajorCapitalGrants #CommunityImpact

Your Community Foundation. For Good. Forever.
About us
The Winnipeg Foundation is a community foundation committed to connecting donors to causes they care about and meeting the needs of the community. The Winnipeg Foundation is the first community foundation in Canada, established in 1921. We work with donors and community groups to improve the city we all call home. We are For Good. Forever. This means we help you give back to your community by connecting you with organizations and causes important to you For Good. And since we’re an endowment-based organization, your gift continues to give Forever. Community foundations are public institutions built through generous gifts of all sizes that are pooled and permanently endowed. The interest earned from these endowments generates a sustainable source of support for local charitable projects Forever. In keeping with donors' wishes, our grants support a wide range of projects in neighbourhoods throughout our city - providing healthy food for kids, making our city greener, improving access to education, supporting creativity, helping the most challenged members of our community, and so much more. The Foundation offers flexible options for donors to help them meet their personal needs and philanthropic goals. The Foundation maintains the purchasing power of the funds entrusted to us, achieving maximum returns consistent with prudent investment and assuring sound financial management practices. Our vision is a Winnipeg where community life flourishes for all. For Good. Forever.

Foundation Events Advisor, Brittine Schmitz, beautifully captured one of the core and most rewarding aspects of our work—building meaningful relationships with our community partners. Together, we’re building ‘a Winnipeg where community life flourishes for all.’
Events Advisor at The Winnipeg Foundation. Certificate with honours in Project Management through Red River College Polytechnic.
Today, Jana Giguere, Nolan Bicknell and I got to visit our friends Trish Taylor, Andrew Kussy, CFRE and Steffani Biffin at The Dream Factory. I always leave our chats feeling inspired by the work they do, the experience and support they provide dream kids and their families, and excited for what they’ll do next. The Winnipeg Foundation has allowed me to connect with so many amazing people and organizations doing integral work in our community. Thank you to our friends at The Dream Factory for all the important work you do! It’s always nice connecting, chatting about the sector, and sharing a laugh or ten!

If you’re a charity, here's what you need to know about receiving donations during the postal disruption via provincial drop off centres. ✅ Donations collected at the 24 Distribution Centres in Manitoba are sent to Materials Distribution Agency (MDA) in Winnipeg. ✅ MDA will contact your charity to let you know the donation is ready for pickup at 1715 St. James Street. ✅ When you receive the call, please confirm the name of the individual who will be picking up the donation. Discover the full list of donation drop-off locations! https://loom.ly/RshVgzw #Winnipeg #GivingSeason

Manitoba has proudly held the title of Canada's most generous province for an incredible 20 consecutive years, amid national decline. 💛 Key stats from The Fraser Institute recent study reveals Canadian generosity is at a 20-year low: 📊 19.3% of Manitobans donated to charity in 2022—the highest in Canada. 📊 Manitobans gave 0.71% of their income, leading all provinces in generosity. We understand the challenges many are facing—rising costs and tighter budgets make giving harder. Yet, it’s during these times that every gift, no matter the size, has an even greater impact. Your generosity fuels the programs, services, and supports that help to build ‘a Winnipeg where community life flourishes for all.’ Let’s continue to be the most generous province. Today, in 1948, the United Nations approved the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, marking Dec. 10 as International Human Rights Day. 🌍🌍🌍 In 2003, we pledged a $6.2 million grant, paid over a decade, to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) – making it the largest grant in our history. In 2019, The Winnipeg Foundation in partnership with the CMHR hosted the Common Ground Human Rights Symposium bringing together 13 community foundation leaders from across Canada. Attendees explored current issues community foundations need to be aware of, including truth and reconciliation, Islamophobia, and the experiences of refugees and asylum seekers. 📖 read more about it: https://loom.ly/AQG2G5o 🌍🌍🌍 Today, in 2024, let's reflect… How can we work together to create a society where dignity, fairness, and human rights are upheld for everyone? The Foundation's Climate Action Committee partnered with our friends at ArtsJunktion mb for a creative noon-hour gathering! 🎄🎨♻️ Yesterday staff were busy crafting ornaments and garlands using upcycled materials—because sustainability and creativity go hand in hand. After overcoming challenges like a devastating fire and rebuilding their space, Arts Junktion continues to ignite creativity across Winnipeg – reminding us of the power of community and innovation. 📖 Read more about Arts Junktion’s inspiring story of resilience, featured in our latest issue of the Working Together magazine. https://loom.ly/Rcy9UJA #Winnipeg #ClimateAction #SustainableHolidays #ArtsandCulture
