More worrying news about shrinking donations in Canada. The ongoing decline in charitable giving is just one of several challenging trends impacting nonprofits’ ability to generate funds from traditional sources. This reality underscores the importance of programs like Thriving Non-Profits, which offer training, coaching, and resources to help organizations adapt. In an increasingly unpredictable economic and political landscape, it’s becoming ever more critical for nonprofits to strengthen their financial resilience by exploring innovative revenue streams that align with their mission. By generating unrestricted income, organizations can better navigate the fluctuations caused by shrinking donations, reduced core funding, and smaller, more competitive grants.
#ImpactBrief | According to new research by The Fraser Institute, public participation in charitable giving is at its lowest point in twenty years. 📉 📊 The public policy think tank released The Generosity Index in early December. It measures the proportion of tax filers in each province who indicate that they have donated to charity and the percentage of aggregate income donated. 🏆 Manitoba topped the rankings for tax filers donating to charity, although Albertans were likely to make larger dollar-value donations. 💸 📖 Read more: https://lnkd.in/gdHmyvKm 💡 Did you know? This year, Thriving Non-Profits ran nine cohorts across spring, summer and fall intakes, welcoming 121 organizations, twice as many as in 2023! It’s hard to capture all the incredible moments from our time together during the nine cohorts this year. From the rich conversations and “aha” moments to the deep sense of connection that comes from hearing your own experiences reflected in the words of others, we love hearing from participants. Here are just a few highlights from this year: “What a wonderful journey participating in this program has been over the last several months. Learning from each other as part of the cohort, and the experience of the team at Thriving Non-Profits has allowed for opening the mind to explore new opportunities.” – Jim Miller, Trinity Historical Society “The opportunity to share and learn from each other helped us envision and redesign our revenue generation activities. The insights and collaborative environment made all the difference in enabling us to grow in new and creative ways." – Cagla Azizoglu-Aslan, FCJ Refugee Centre A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in our 2024 cohorts for your insights, energy and dedication to your missions. We are excited for what next year will bring, and welcome you to share with your networks that applications for Spring 2025 cohorts are currently open at: https://lnkd.in/g_tjp5HG
