About us
We all deserve to be well. The VK Wellness Initiative offers an individualized approach to achieving personal and collective wellness. VK Wellness offers comprehensive corporate wellness programs including EFAP and leadership development. We begin with an organization-wide assessment, evaluating employee well-being and company culture. A detailed report is then provided to the owner or HR director. Our tailored services promote a healthy work environment, employee engagement, and improved productivity. At VK Wellness, our comprehensive range of services includes Clinical Counselling, mental health assessments, wellness planning, Pediatric Occupational Therapy, kinesiology and body composition assessments, Registered Massage Therapy, holistic nutrition, anxiety management services, yoga therapy, clinical herbal therapy, integrated adult sleep counseling, and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy. We also offer a core wellness consultation program in which clients complete wellness planning supported by a Registered Clinical Social Worker or Counsellor. Wellness planning, the VK way, involves collaborative exploration of many different aspects of current, past, and future experiences. A Registered Clinical Counselor walks with you using a specific template completed together in 2 sessions. The process is designed to be completed in a more efficient manner than most therapeutic experiences. This is because we believe the answers to your best path to wellness already exists within you and your current experiences; you just need to know where to look! Our Counsellors offer a variety of therapy including Cognitive-Based Therapy or professional case management support for those with dual diagnosis and specialized funding programming that may require the organization and planning for allocation of services. Accessibility is a our core philosophy at The VK Wellness Initiative - Prices vary and can be on a sliding scale if needed. May you be well

A message from Vanessa and Kara 📢 As co-founders of VK Wellness, we’re dedicated to recognizing and uplifting the incredible achievements of women entrepreneurs while addressing the work still needed to ensure women have the opportunities they deserve to build impactful businesses. Despite our progress, there’s much more to do: only 18.4% of Canadian businesses are majority-owned by women, investors choose pitches delivered by men 60% of the time, and just 4% of venture capital funding goes to women founders. On average, men-owned businesses receive 150% higher financing amounts than those for women-owned businesses. Seriously?! 😤 Here at VK Wellness, we’re committed to changing that. We proudly support a team of inspiring female entrepreneurs in qathet, including Mara Jones, Frani Van Rooyen, Nancy Van Zyl, Chelsea Keays, Deidre Hasler, Tarra Tipton, Angela Voht, Ernalee Shannon, and Julie Bohdnova. To our local female go-getters, let’s continue to support and uplift one another (tag one here for a shout-out!). Vanessa is also offering free mentorship opportunities to help women navigate the entrepreneurial journey (limited space). We would love to collaborate with other women entrepreneurs passionate about making a difference. Reach out to us to build a more inclusive, supportive, and impactful business community, together. #WomenEntrepreneurs #LinkedInCommunity #VKWellness #qathet #SupportLocal #WomenInBusiness #Mentorship

Hmmm 🤨 A 2021 study found that when employees are satisfied with workplace communication: • They’re 177% more likely to be holistically well • 156% more likely to feel valued and appreciated • 48% more likely to be resilient These numbers are staggering—and they make a strong case for prioritizing workplace satisfaction. But I wonder, how accurate do you think these figures are? What’s your experience with the correlation between workplace communication and employee wellbeing? In The work that we do with organizations here at Vk wellness, we definitely see what ineffective or lack of communication can do, and the negative effects. Are we doing enough in our organizations to foster environments where employees feel valued, resilient, and supported in their holistic wellness? Let’s spark some dialogue around this. Drop your thoughts in the comments! #WorkplaceWellness #EmployeeEngagement #MentalHealthAtWork #Leadership #OrganizationalCulture #HolisticHealth

Love this approach that is filled with hope and healing - All Paths Lead To Wellness. Once again, First Nations Health Authority leading the way in de-colonizing how we view healing.
All paths lead to wellness. This concept is rooted in Indigenous harm reduction and self-determination. On our healing journey we may choose one or many options and at different times. This model holds up areas of strength, areas for growth, and specific priorities to support a person while also using a community-centred approach to healing. June 27 🗓️ marks National Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Awareness Day. VK Wellness clinicians are passionate about raising awareness and are working hard to abandon the stigma surrounding this critical mental health issue. According to Statistics Canada's Survey on Mental Health and Stressful Events, while 5% of Canadians have been diagnosed with PTSD by a health professional, 8% meet the criteria for probable PTSD based on recent symptoms. This highlights the prevalence of undiagnosed PTSD and the urgent need for mental health supports. DID YOU KNOW? PTSD is not only with war veterans. It can result from various traumatic events, including natural disasters, accidents, war, and sexual or physical assault. Symptoms range from unwanted thoughts and dreams of the trauma to physical responses like difficulty breathing, strong negative emotions such as fear, anger, guilt, or shame, and a loss of interest in previously enjoyed activities. Sexual assault (14%) is the most commonly reported cause of PTSD among Canadians, followed by life-threatening illness or injury (10%), sudden accidental death (6%), and physical assault (6%). As we recognize PTSD Awareness Day, will you join VK Wellness in supporting those affected and advocating for better mental health resources? Understanding and compassion 🩵 can make a significant difference in the lives of those struggling with PTSD. #PTSDawareness #MentalHealth #EndTheStigma #SupportAndCare #MentalHealthMatters #VKWellness https://lnkd.in/gwWznJ_F
