📣 NEW FUNDING ANNOUNCEMENT: Patient Voices in Research Initiative 📣 Just over a year ago, members of our Patient Working Group met in person for the first time in Halifax, NS. As they exchanged ideas with Network researchers and oncologists, one thing became clear: people with lived cancer experience knew of gaps in precision oncology research that no one else in the Network knew existed. This led us to ask: what would happen if they designed, delivered and adjudicated a funding program aimed at addressing these gaps? Today, we announce that 10 outstanding research teams across the country will receive a total of $1.8M over the next year to address gaps and disparities in care, access and treatment identified by members of our Patient Working Group. To our knowledge, this is the first cancer research funding program in Canada to be fully designed, delivered and adjudicated BY cancer patients FOR cancer patients.
