We are excited to be part of the IPD team to give The City of Kitchener more recreational space! Looking forward to working with Multiplex and all other partners!
#MULTIPLEXCanada and our Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) partners Unity Design Studio Inc., MTE Consultants, AECOM, DEI Consulting Engineers, SpruceLab Inc., Pratus Group, Austin Carroll, Sutherland-Schultz Ltd., Walters Group, Flynn Group of Companies, Element5, Guild Electric Limited, and the City of Kitchener have officially BROKEN GROUND to launch the start of construction on the Kitchener Indoor Recreation Complex (KIRC) at RBJ Schlegel Park! As the General Contractor partnering with the City of Kitchener, we're excited to bring the city's pioneering net zero carbon structure to life. This premier indoor recreation destination will meet the current, future and increasingly diverse needs of Kitchener residents for decades to come. This much-anticipated multi-purpose project is designed as one of the most sustainable recreation facilities in Canada. Project Highlights: - KIRC will house a multi-purpose sports field, an aquatic centre, top-notch space for athlete amenities, an indoor walking track, an indoor cricket batting cage, and a FIFA-sized indoor turf field, among other facilities. It will serve as a community hub that offers amenities that cater to a diverse range of interests. - This project will come to life through an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) approach, implementing a LEAN Construction philosophy. Our commitment lies in supporting efficient resource management, enhancing value, and minimizing waste. - The integration of a geothermal heating and cooling system, combined with the city’s largest array of solar panels, will ensure the facility operates at peak energy efficiency. This initiative is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 22 tonnes annually, resulting in approximately $100,000 in annual utility savings for the city. The facility is expected to welcome more than 380,000 people in its first year of operation, after opening by late 2026. This celebratory milestone marks the beginning of the construction process and we look forward to collaborating with these industry-leading design and construction professionals! Stay tuned for project updates. #multiplexmoments #builttooutperform #CityofKitchener #RecreationComplex #Sustainability #IPD #LEAN #NetZeroCarbon
