Dear Friend, 'Tis the season of giving Thanks. We as parents give thanks for being blessed with children and then we want to pass on the tradition of Thanksgiving to our children too. So, I wanted to bring us together into a Parent Circle where we can learn from our parents and pass on the baton to our children. Here is an incredible opportunity to join Dr. Shadbano Ahmad, retired Professor of Sociology from Aligarh Muslim University for a session on Prepare Our Children for the Future on November 7, 2024 at 8:30pm Eastern. We would love to see you there! This event promises to enlighten us and bring awareness to our journey as parents and to dig deeper into the quintessential question of "how to prepare our children for the future when we can never be sure of what the future looks like". https://lnkd.in/g9QiaFYW Meeting ID: 828 9847 9892 See you there!
About us
Do you want to know how to heal yourself from the inside out? Do you want to overcome fatigue, pain, and emotional distress and live with optimism? The human soul/psyche/intuition/intelligence leads us to connect with each other so we can influence continuous well-being. How can we spread our branches farther than a tall tree? Our branches go out in terms of our messages that come from our soul. Would that not mean that our roots need to be stronger than those of a tall pine tree? Healthy plants and trees stand on strong roots. You and I have 20,000 human genes. Compare that to 50,000 of a pine tree, yet humans are more intelligent. Why? Because we have only 1% human DNA but we surpass any species in genetic diversity due to our ability to house and use the microbial genes that form our microbiome. The fact that we play around with trillions of these genes changing every second based on how we think, move, sleep, eat and where we are on the planet, means we need an even stronger connection of our soul to the soil, which is where these microbes come from. It is from this purpose to make our young and older generations remain strong, bold and influential, that soil to soul is born. Our human genes may be between a flea and a fruit fly in number but we have the ability to integrate many genes and express way more proteins as long as we stay connected to the soil. Our soul depends on our connection with our food intimately from the time of its conception in a seed to its expression through trillions of microbes through its journey from soil to soul. When we learn and come together in community gardens in schools, communities and workplaces, to nurture these seeds through our hands in the soil, a whole universe comes into our being through our hands, smiles, movement of our bodies and sunshine on our skin. It just cannot be bottled in a pill. We have to go through this journey of love from soil to soul.

I started this journey of community garden 🪴 in 2011 when it was just me and 2 other ladies in Ottawa. Now we have 45v families gardening in a 3200 sqft plot with so much support from Community Garden Network of Ottawa. Then in 2021, I started working with a few schools in Inida for farm trips and finally starting a community garden in the school. In a year, 150 students are growing everything from squashes to herbs to rice and wheat. What other skill is more important than teaching every young child how to grow their own food? #food #communitygarden #skills #schools
Let's grow together! 🌱 Community gardens are a fantastic way to reconnect with nature, foster a sense of community, and ensure access to fresh, healthy food. By working together to cultivate our own produce, we're not only nourishing our bodies but also strengthening the bonds that hold our communities together. Let's plant the seeds for a greener, healthier future! 🌎💚 Sarah Musavi, PhD #communitygardens #sustainability #healthyeating #localproduce #soiltosoul
