Our Long-term Care and Retirement Villages thrive with a strong family culture.
About us
Canadian owned and operated, Schlegel Villages manages high quality long term care and retirement Villages across Ontario. Our Villages benefit from the Schlegel family having over 70 years of direct experience co-owning, managing and operating Long Term Care and Retirement Communities in Ontario. The Schlegel Family’s overarching mission is to build and strengthen community. One very important and tangible way of building community is by providing care and quality of life for older adults, which we have been doing for 70 years. Our central belief is that elders should be kept at the centre of our communities, not relegated to the periphery. The Villages we create are places where elders can live a life of meaning and purpose while continuing to stay connected and contributing to the broader community. On November 11th, all of us at Schlegel Villages pause to honour the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of those who have served our country. We reflect on the freedoms we cherish and the sacrifices that made them possible. Let’s come together to remember and express our deepest gratitude. Lest we forget.

Ken McCoy, a veteran of the Second World War, shares his reflections on sacrifice, service, and the lasting echoes of war. As Remembrance Day approaches, Ken reminds us of the sacrifices made not only on the battlefield but also on the home front. “War is an uncertain thing, and you don’t want to go into it,” he says. His story is a poignant reminder of the courage and resilience of those who served for a better future. We’re thrilled to celebrate the partnership between The Village of Aspen Lake, The Village at St. Clair, and The Essex County Library in bringing the #ElderWisdom Green Bench to the Libraries and their communities! 🌿 This special bench is more than a seat; it’s a symbol of community connection and a reminder of the value older generations bring to our lives. By taking a moment to sit and chat, visitors can engage with the stories and wisdom of our elders, enriching their own perspectives. Together, we are building stronger, more connected communities. Lest we forget, every elder has a story worth sharing. #EndAgeism #CommunityConnections

We wear the poppy as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made for our freedom. Inspired by Lt. Col. John McCrae’s In Flanders Fields, the red poppy honours those who served and continue to serve. Each poppy also supports veterans and their families through the Royal Canadian Legion. This November, let’s wear our poppies with pride and gratitude. Lest we forget. Finish this sentence. I wear the poppy because... #VeteransWeek #RemembranceDay
