  • Here are some suggestions to consider for making the upcoming weeks more pleasant for everyone. If you have not yet arranged your holiday PTO, today is the day to do so. With Christmas and Hanukkah occurring around the same time, there may be a higher-than-usual pile of PTO requests. Furthermore, many team members take time off in the new year, so be clear about your Q1 needs. #pto #holidayplanning #lastminute

"I had a manager who was so afraid of confrontation, that she remained complacent when an employee was blatantly bullying other employees. This employee was a far-right-wing conspiracy theorist and tried to force her views on us. If we didn’t agree, she used passive micro-aggressive behavior toward that person. She reported people to HR for not wearing makeup. She argued with customers about things. My boss just pretended like nothing was happening. One day, it got so bad that I had several panic attacks at work. She gave me a cookie from her lunch and told me to 'buck up.'" Addressing issues head-on isn’t just about putting out fires—it’s about building a workplace where everyone feels valued and respected. Leaders have a responsibility to tackle harmful behaviors directly, especially when they risk undermining the team’s trust and morale. Ignoring these issues doesn’t make them go away; it gives them room to fester and grow. Take, for example, the manager here who avoids confronting a bullying employee. While it might feel easier in the moment to sidestep the discomfort of a difficult conversation, that avoidance comes at a steep cost. The result? A toxic environment where others feel unsupported, disengaged, and even unsafe. No leader wants their legacy to include “allowed toxicity to thrive on their watch.” The good news is that proactive conflict resolution is a game-changer. Leaders who face these challenges with courage—addressing harmful behaviors while reinforcing clear expectations—set the tone for a healthier and more productive workplace. It’s not about being confrontational; it’s about being constructive. Supportive leadership plays a pivotal role here. When leaders create spaces where feedback flows freely and accountability is the norm, they foster a culture that encourages growth and learning. Yes, it might feel awkward at first, but the payoff is immense: stronger relationships, a more cohesive team, and a workplace people genuinely enjoy being part of. If something feels “off” in your team dynamic, don’t wait until the wheels fall off. Leadership isn’t about perfection—it’s about having the guts to show up, have tough conversations, and keep steering toward a better environment for everyone. Taking a more positive spin here... have you ever seen a workplace transformed by a leader addressing tough issues head-on? I’d love to hear your stories in the comments! #Leadership #WorkplaceCulture #ConflictResolution #TeamDynamics #PsychologicalSafety
