Sharing this encouraging chart recently distributed by BetaKit. The data was compiled by VC firm Inovia Capital. Inovia CEO Chris Arsenault observes that there has been a sea change in the Canadian tech landscape. He says before 2015, you could barely count the number of $100-million-valued companies. Then, along came a handful of companies (including Shopify, of course) that started growing at breakneck speeds. Skip ahead to today, Inovia's portfolio is replete with Canadian companies. "We have over 12 companies doing between $105 and $900 million in revenue, not in valuation. This is the Canadian landscape that has changed,” said Arsenault. This chart lists a selection of Canadian tech companies that have secured financing rounds of $100 million [Cdn] or more since 2005. That time period represents approximately $48 billion invested across more than 3,000 deals. Check it out 👇
