About us
The Ontario Cannabis Store is a Crown agency solely owned by the Province of Ontario and reporting to the Ministry of Finance. The OCS provides safe, responsible access to legal recreational cannabis for adults 19 and older. We are Ontario’s sole wholesaler to more than 1,500 Authorized Cannabis Stores. The OCS also operates OCS.ca, the Province’s online cannabis retailer which delivers to consumers in every corner of Ontario. We make sure our customers only receive legal, clearly labelled cannabis products by working closely with a diverse group of Licensed Producers authorized by Health Canada. Our online store prioritizes education and provides many opportunities for both new and experienced consumers to learn more about cannabis and responsible use. Our customer-care centre is staffed by knowledgeable, helpful product specialists who provide the information our customers need to make the right choices. Social responsibility is something we take seriously and making every purchase a responsible one is a top priority. We are looking for passionate, proven performers to join our diverse team and help us continue to grow our business as we define best-in-class standards for a new industry.

Every holiday season, authorities remind Canadians to use alcohol safely and responsibly. That important message also applies to cannabis – especially since cannabis sales tend to increase in December as consumers stock up on gifts and party supplies. OCS senior manager, Social Responsibility and Partnerships, Jenna Valleriani, PhD, chats with StratCann about responsible holiday-season cannabis consumption.

It was a pleasure to chat with both Mike Dunn and Brooke at 1922 Cannabis & Delivery. Thank you for hosting us!
Founder at 1922 | Award-Winning Leader in Cannabis Retail & Delivery Innovation | Driven to Solve Industry Challenges
Humbled and Honored: 1922 Cannabis & Delivery in the Spotlight Out of over 1,500 cannabis stores in Ontario, it was a true privilege to host David Lobo, President and CEO of the OCS Ontario Cannabis Store, Gary Crawford, new OCS Board Member, and Alexandre Jalleau, Chief Customer Experience Officer, at our store this week. What made this visit so impactful was the opportunity to share how we’ve adapted and evolved as a small, independent operator, particularly in the delivery space. We discussed hitting milestones like 10,000 Uber Eats orders, highlighting how this innovation has made cannabis more accessible for customers while ensuring we stay competitive. Their interest reinforced the importance of independent operators in shaping the future of cannabis. A key focus of this visit was the perspective Gary Crawford brings as the newest OCS Board Member. Gary brings a wealth of experience from his long-standing career in the Ontario government. He is well-positioned to help prioritize regulatory changes in the Cannabis Act, addressing illicit storefronts and mail-order operations. His ability to bridge policy with operational realities will help create a more sustainable and competitive legal market for small businesses like ours and others across the province. For Brooke Silversides and I, this visit was a reminder that our work speaks for itself. Through consistent service, customer feedback, and results, we’re proud to contribute to these industry conversations. Visits like this showcase the vital role independent operators play in driving innovation and pave the way for broader collaboration to move the industry forward. Thank you, David, Gary, Alexandre, and the OCS team, for taking the time to visit and support the work we’re doing.

Did you know that 2 in 3 Ontarians (19+) believe that if a cannabis store is open, it must be legal? This misconception means many people are unknowingly consuming products that may contain harmful contaminants. To address this, the Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS) and Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) have launched an engaging digital campaign to educate consumers on the benefits of choosing legal, regulated cannabis over illegal products and how to identify licensed retailers through the Cannabis Retail Seal (https://lnkd.in/gZ2NyaJc). The campaign is running across age-gated platforms like Reddit, Facebook, and Instagram until November 30, 2024, with additional outreach planned for early 2025. Along with the ad featured below, we’re offering educational resources on our website (www.buylegal.ca) to help Ontarians make informed choices. To amplify the campaign message, we’ll be opening “Buzzkill,” a pop-up event from October 17-21 at 474 Queen St. W. This immersive experience will showcase the risks associated with illegal dispensaries, highlighting products with potential contaminants and showing the signs of unlicensed operations. It's an eye-opening opportunity to understand why choosing legal cannabis is the safer, smarter option. Together, let’s promote safe, traceable, and tested legal cannabis.
