Un pas en avant dans notre lutte pour la justice ! 🙌 Depuis le 23 janvier 2024, l’ANFD mène une coalition de 250 organisations féministes à travers le Canada pour demander à l’honorable Arif Virani, ministre de la Justice, de mettre fin à l’utilisation des accusations d’aliénation parentale devant les tribunaux de la famille. Aujourd’hui, nous avons eu une rencontre constructive avec le ministre Arif Virani pour présenter notre proposition et discuter des solutions possibles. Bien qu'il reste encore du travail à faire, nous espérons que le Ministère de la Justice écoutera les voix claires et constantes des survivantes de violence conjugale et de leurs enfants, et qu’il légifèrera pour stopper les accusations d’aliénation parentale, comme le recommande l’ONU. Ensemble, faisons avancer la justice. 💜

📣 Advocacy Update On January 23, 2024, NAWL joined forces with 250 feminist organizations across Canada, urging the federal government to ban accusations of parental alienation in family courts. Fast forward almost a year of advocacy — today, we sat down with the Honourable Arif Virani, Minister of Justice, to discuss this critical issue, our proposed solution, and the path forward. This is a huge step forward in our fight for justice! 🙌 While there’s still work to be done, we’re hopeful that Justice Canada will listen to the clear and consistent voices of survivors of intimate partner violence and their children, and legislate to make accusations of parental alienation inadmissible in family courts, as the UN has recommended. 💡 Let’s keep the momentum going — change is possible when we work together! #StopAccusationsAlienation

La DUDH consacre les droits fondamentaux auxquels chacun·e peut prétendre en tant qu'être humain. Elle a marqué une étape importante pour les femmes, avec des exemples notables :  🟰 Tous les êtres humains naissent libres et égaux en dignité et en droits. [Article 1]  🕊️ Tout individu a droit à la vie, à la liberté et à la sûreté de sa personne. [Article 3]  ⚖️ Tous sont égaux devant la loi et ont droit sans distinction à une égale protection de la loi. [Article 7]  💵 Toute personne a droit, sans aucune discrimination, à un salaire égal pour un travail égal. [Article 23]  🌻 Toute personne a droit à un niveau de vie suffisant pour assurer sa santé, son bien-être et ceux de sa famille. [Article 25]  📚 Toute personne a droit à l'éducation. [Article 26] Bien que la déclaration ait été adoptée il y a 76 ans, il reste encore beaucoup à faire pour réaliser pleinement les droits de la personne qu'elle consacre. Did you know that Human Rights Day commemorates the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) on December 10, 1948? The UDHR enshrines the fundamental rights that everyone is entitled to as a human being. This marked a significant milestone for women, with notable examples including: 🟰All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. [Article 1]  🕊️ Everyone has the right to life, liberty and the security of the person. [Article 3]  ⚖️ All are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law. [Article 7]  💵 Everyone, without any discrimination, has the right to equal pay for equal work. [Article 23]  🌻 Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family. [Article 25]  📚 Everyone has the right to education. [Article 26] Despite its adoption 76 years ago, there is still much work to be done in fully realizing the human rights laid out in the UDHR. Aujourd’hui, en ce 35e anniversaire de la tuerie de l'École polytechnique, nous nous souvenons des 14 jeunes femmes dont la vie a été tragiquement enlevée par un misogyne muni d'une arme d'assaut légale. Hier, le gouvernement du Canada a annoncé des mesures essentielles pour renforcer le contrôle des armes à feu et accroître la sécurité des femmes, notamment le lancement d'un programme national de rachat d'armes d'assaut et l’introduction de règlements d’application concernant de nouvelles mesures contre la violence conjugale d'ici janvier 2025. Nous saluons le gouvernement fédéral d'avoir écouté les voix des survivantes et des organisations féministes. L'an dernier, avec le soutien de 32 organisations féministes réunies au sein de la coalition #FemmesContreLesViolencesArmées, l'ANFD s'est efforcée d'obtenir des dispositions dans le projet de loi C-21, qui modifie et renforce la Loi sur les armes à feu, afin de lutter contre la double épidémie de féminicide et de violence entre partenaires intimes qui sévit au Canada.

On the 35th anniversary of the École Polytechnique Massacre, we remember the 14 young women whose lives were tragically taken by a misogynist with a legal assault weapon. Yesterday, the Government of Canada announced critical steps to strengthen gun control and increase women’s safety, including the launch of a national assault weapons buyback program and the tabling of regulations to implement new domestic violence measures by January 2025. We commend the federal government for listening to the voices of survivors and feminist advocates. Last year, with the support of 32 women’s organizations as the #Women4GunControl coalition, NAWL worked to secure provisions in Bill C-21, which amended and strengthened the Firearms Act, to address the alarming twin epidemics of femicide and intimate partner violence in Canada. #MontrealMassacre #GunControl #DomesticViolence #WomensSafety #FeministLawReform
