It's no surprise to us that 84% of Canadians across political affiliations advocate for stronger safeguards for forests and wildlife. Our policy and campaign manager Michael Polanyi emphasizes the need for greater transparency and accountability in Canada's forest management, criticizing the government's current reporting practices.

Congratulations to Windsor and their Bird Friendly City teams for renewing their Bird Friendly City certification! "Thanks to Pelee Island Bird Observatory hard work and the support of City Hall, Nature Canada has declared Windsor to be Canada’s 16th Bird Friendly City. This is a major step forward for the protection of birds in this area, and as we have long known, what’s good for birds is also good for people. This is definitely a win-win for Windsor.” - Matthew Gibson, Co-Chair Pelee Island Bird Observatory You can check out their full application and learn more about the Bird Friendly City program at naturecanada .ca/bfc #birdfriendlycity #CanadaBirds #protectbirds #NatureCanada #Windsor #ontario Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island, City of Windsor

AquaBounty Announces Plans to Cease Fish Farming Operations. If this company had been raising non GMO salmon in land-based facility, we would have been behind it. Genetically engineered organisms can have unintended impacts on wild species and ecosystems that could change Nature forever. While there is a much lower risk of escapes with land based facilities, all it takes is one non-sterile fish or fertilized egg to end up in the wrong place. In Canada, already at-risk populations of Atlantic Salmon could be outcompeted for food, or if interbreeding were to occur, be fundamentally changed. Ultimately, impacting the livelihoods of hundreds of Canadians and disrupting ecosystems forever. This is great news for nature! #CEPA #KeepWildSpeciesWild #NonGMOSalmon
