We are proud to share the Fairmont Royal York Decarbonization has been recognized by Engineering News-Record (ENR) in the 2024 Global Best Projects Awards for Best Green Project. Five years of upfront planning followed by carefully orchestrated staging allowed our project team to install modern, efficient heat pumps and switch out the hotel’s aging diesel-fueled generators and steam systems without major disruptions to guests. The project has since achieved Zero Carbon Building – Performance Standard certification by the CAGBC | Canada Green Building Council. Wesbild and KingSett Capital are celebrating the completion of Phase 1 of Marine Landing, Canada’s largest twin stacked industrial strata at Marine Drive and Manitoba in South Vancouver. The first of two, six-storey buildings is now complete, and more than 100 businesses will soon be taking possession and moving in. With 95% of buyers local to Metro Vancouver, Marine Landing is meeting a need that is challenging to find elsewhere, with limited industrial land in the region and limited industrial strata options. We are excited to welcome a diverse mix of businesses to our first building. Today we broke ground on 50 Wilson Heights Boulevard, a redevelopment that will deliver 1,484 new homes, including 35 percent affordable rentals, a childcare centre, parkland, retail, office and community spaces. The site is one of 17 identified for development under HousingNowTO, an initiative aimed at adding much-needed affordable and market housing supply to the City of Toronto by activating underutilized City-owned sites for development. Breaking ground on construction for this project demonstrates how private, government, and agency sectors can effectively collaborate to address the challenge of affordable housing in Toronto. We are thrilled to announce the successful funding of a CMHC MLI Select first mortgage for the acquisition of two, 29-storey, student rental apartment buildings in Ottawa, totalling 574 units and 737 beds, with retail space. This financing marks an 8-year culmination of a series of KingSett loans at the property, having originally financed the land in 2015, followed by the construction financing though our private mortgage funds.
