Ottawa Tourism Provided $3.1B for Local Economy in 2023 • Read the Ottawa Business Journal Story by Sarah M. https://lnkd.in/epTFWcE3 • Explore the Ottawa Tourism Press Release: https://lnkd.in/e8nSuFNq • Watch the CTV News story featuring Ottawa's own Catherine Callary, CDME: https://lnkd.in/eKP3pJVZ Tourism is a critical economic driver for Canada's Capital. This sector delivers direct economic value to every citizen in our region; helps drive new business and investment to Ottawa; and consistently enhances the quality of life for our local and visitor community. Last week, our amazing partners at Ottawa Tourism announced the release of their 2024 Economic Impact Study. This report provides a first high-level look at post-pandemic visitor spending trends to assess the impact of the tourism industry on Ottawa’s economy. Key findings: • Ottawa welcomes 9.8 million visitors yearly, who spend $2.6 billion here in our region. • This generates $2.8 billion in total GDP and $3.1 billion in direct economic output annually while contributing $921 million in taxes to federal, provincial and municipal governments. • On a yearly basis, the visitor economy supports nearly $2,000 of government services for every household in Ottawa • It forms a workforce of more than 35,000 people, through direct, indirect and induced employment. “Tourism is still a significant economic driver for Ottawa, and despite the challenges that we saw over the course of the pandemic and the recovery that has largely happened – not quite all the way to 2019 levels, but in large part, has happened – that tourism is still a major employer and a major economic driver for Ottawa,” Catherine Callary told the OBJ. “It does show the momentum that we’ve been able to see come back here into our destination, and so that’s all good news.” At Invest Ottawa, we think it is GREAT news. We value our strong partnership with Michael Crockatt, Catherine, Lesley Pincombe (Mackay) and the entire team at Ottawa Tourism, the opportunity tourism creates, and its impact on our economy. Thank you all for your leadership and many contributions to our region. It is an honour to collaborate with you and fellow partners to build our city, economy, and community together.

You asked, we listened! On popular demand, we brought back Let's Tech Together - fall edition! 🍂🤝 And an incredible evening it was! 🎉 The Ottawa tech and innovation community came together once again for an unforgettable evening of networking, collaboration, and celebration. With partners from Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology, Invest Ottawa, Carleton University, SheBoot, Capital Angel Network, and many more, we united our collective talents to celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation in our city. A special thank you to Jones DesLauriers, Corporate Traveller Canada for their generous support! From the rich conversations to the delicious bites at Lowertown Brewery, in the heart of downtown, the event was filled with energy, enthusiasm, and a true sense of community. We’re grateful to all who made it out and helped kick off the fall season with us. And the best part? 💚 All ticket proceeds went to support the Odawa Native Friendship Centre and the Bannock Bus initiative, making this event not only a celebration of tech but also a celebration of giving back. Missed out? Don’t worry—there will be more opportunities to "tech" together soon. Stay tuned! #OttawaTech #InnovationCommunity #Entrepreneurship #TechNetworking
