Evidence Prime is a collaboration between McMaster University – a leading Canadian academic institution – and a group of committed, experienced Polish IT professionals. We joined forces with the aim of becoming the market leader in creating innovative IT tools for evidence-based health care. Our core product is GRADEpro, the web application that supports creating summary tables for systematic reviews and health technology assessments and facilitates development of clinical practice guidelines as well as other documents making recommendations for public health or health policy decisions. Our research division supports guideline development also by assisting with the preparation of systematic reviews, summary of findings tables or with the collection and analysis of data. We are privileged to collaborate with the world-renowned experts in the academic field. A number of McMaster University professors support our work in a variety of ways, particularly with the GRADE methodology. Our GRADEpro tool is a direct result of their findings – an outstanding example of how automation can assist health care professionals in their decision making processes.

I'm on my way back from the beautiful city of Vienna, where I had the honor to participate as a member of the Scientific Advisory Board in the General Assembly of the #COMMUTE project (https://lnkd.in/ej7Kc_q7). #COMMUTE is a project coordinated by Martin Hofmann-Apitius and involves 11 partners from 9 countries. It aims to explore the link between COVID-19 and neurodegenerative diseases (NDD). What is truly remarkable about this project is that it brings together experts from multiple disciplines to work on the common goal from different perspectives. One of the Work Packages is exploring the mechanisms of the comorbidity using in vitro assays. Another is looking into Real-World Data in a hypothesis-free fashion. Yet another is building knowledge graphs based on the available literature. There is also a group of law and ethics experts that explore the challenges of using health data in the research process and how advancement of precision medicine impacts patient rights. It was inspiring to hear the presentations from all the Work Packages and the great progress they are making. We are looking forward to collaborating more on this topic in the future!
