Recently I attended the “We The Planet ” Summit at the United Nations General Assembly, hosted by X Fellows, and it was eye-opening to the struggles of mental health. With a massively diverse group of people from various backgrounds, occupations, across various fields, one thing was evident - mental health struggles are pervasive. Mental health is heavily underdiscussed, and as a leader it’s our duty to ensure a supportive environment for our teams to thrive. Nine years ago today, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada released its Final Report. We stand in solidarity with Survivors and their families for sharing their stories, and honour Chief Commissioner Murray Sinclair on his leadership in advancing 94 Calls to Action, which remains vital in our journey towards reconciliation. On June 2024, the AFN released an annual report card to measure the progress on realizing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s (TRC) Calls to Action and found that the Government of Canada has failed to demonstrate a meaningful implementation of the Call to Actions. We will continue to advocate for the complete implementation of the 94 Calls to Action in support of Survivors, families, and First Nations across Turtle Island.
