MGH is one of the first hospitals in Ontario to adopt a new artificial intelligence (AI) tool to help make the emergency care experience better for both patients and providers! 💚 Called Ambient Scribe, the tool allows physicians in our Stavro Emergency Department to record interactions with consenting patients through a secure smartphone app. It uses AI technology to listen to, transcribe, and produce clinical notes from conversations between patients and their physicians. Physicians can review and edit the transcription for accuracy. From April to August this year, the use of Ambient Scribe allowed physicians in MGH’s ED to see 10% to 13% more patients, which is about two or three more patients per shift. “By leveraging AI, we can transform time-consuming notetaking into a quick, efficient process, enabling us to focus more on what matters most: our patients,” says Dr. David Rosenstein, Emergency Physician and Information Technology Lead in MGH’s ED.
