In today’s interconnected technology ecosystem, threats to innovation are escalating in their scale, complexity and hostility, and the digital technology segment increasingly seen as a key target. To combat this challenge, the Five Eyes alliance (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and United States) launched Secure Innovation, a joint initiative to help protect emerging tech companies, researchers and investors from a range of national security threats, in particular pernicious activities from hostile state actors. Join us for a 60-minute session where we’ll explore: • an overview of the current threat landscape • the impetus for the Five Shared Principles to protect the tech sector and increased commitment to work collaboratively against this shared threat • practices and steps organizations can adopt to better protect their ideas, reputation and future growth • available resources and guidance across all Five Eyes countries to support organizations in mitigating these threats

  • We are deeply saddened by the passing of Greg Caws, a visionary leader, dedicated innovator and cherished friend. Greg was not only a Board member and one of the original founders of DIGITAL but also its heart and creative spirit, whose unwavering determination helped shape us into everything we are today. A champion of Canada's innovators, Greg’s brilliance and passion for technology were matched only by his generosity, kindness and commitment to uplifting others. His strong advocacy for inclusivity, diversity, equity and representation within workspaces and decision-making extended to fostering countless emerging and diverse voices across this country. He served as a guiding light for countless individuals, uniting teams and inspiring excellence across British Columbia’s technology sector and beyond. His energy and drive in the early days of DIGITAL left a lasting impact, bringing together Canadian innovation to create a better country—and world—for all of us. While we mourn the loss of a true pioneer and dear friend, we are forever grateful for his wisdom, warmth and relentless optimism. In addition to his professional life, Greg was a wonderfully present father, husband and lover of the outdoors who led by example for us all. Greg’s legacy will continue to inspire us as we carry forward his vision for a brighter, more connected future. He will be deeply missed and remembered with enduring love and admiration.
