Davies acted for Saline Investments Ltd. in successfully defending against recent enforcement proceedings before the Capital Markets Tribunal in the matter of Cormark Securities Inc. The Tribunal concluded that the parties did not illegally distribute securities in structuring capital-raising transactions involving short sales, a share loan and pledge and a private placement. The Tribunal also rejected the Ontario Securities Commission’s claims that the parties in this matter failed to act fairly and honestly. This important decision reinforces bedrock principles of Ontario securities law. It is a rare victory for respondents to enforcement proceedings. Teddy Bear Adventure campaign raises $300,000 for kids in care of the Children's Aid Foundation of Canada! We partnered with our client, Northleaf Capital Partners, and several other organizations across Bay Street, to fundraise for this Toronto-based organization. We held a special firmwide trivia night to help meet this year’s goal of $250,000 – which was well surpassed. We also participated in the Teddy Bear Adventure Nostalgia Night, an event that brought together over 200 people, in the heart of the financial district. A Toronto-based charity, the Children’s Aid Foundation helps make a difference in the lives of young people involved in the child welfare system, so they can reach their goals and realize brighter futures. #ChildrensAidFoundation #Fundraising #TeddyBearAdventure
