About us
Conservation Halton (CH), formerly known as the Halton Region Conservation Authority (HRCA), is a conservation authority established under the Conservation Authorities Act of Ontario. It forms a partnership with the Province of Ontario, the Ministry of Natural Resources and the regional municipalities of Halton, Peel and surrounding municipalities. Conservation Halton was formed in 1956 as the Sixteen Mile Conservation Authority followed by the formation of the Twelve Mile Conservation Authority in 1957. In 1963 these conservation authorities amalgamated to form the Halton Region Conservation Authority which later became Conservation Halton. It was created based on the watershed of the two creek systems, by representatives from the municipalities of Mississauga, Flamborough, Oakville, Trafalgar Township, Burlington, Nelson Township, Milton, and Esquesing Township (now Halton Hills.) Mission statement: To protect and enhance the natural environment from lake to escarpment for present and future generations.

Last evening, we were honoured to host internationally renowned architect Douglas Cardinal. He was joined by Idoia Arana-Beobide (Douglas Cardinal Architect Inc.), along with Priyanka Shukla, Danny Wojcik, and Yaser Rahmanian, OAA, M.Arch. (Plus VG Architects) at the Deer Clan Longhouse. Together they presented their proposed design for the renovated visitors centre at Crawford Lake to our Indigenous Partners Council and members of our Parks Leadership Team. We can’t wait to share the final design of this community gathering and educational space when it’s ready. More to come!

This week, we gratefully received a $10,000 donation from Robin Letto and Fabian Trejo on behalf of Sysco Canada Inc., in support of Indigenous Food Sovereignty programming at Crawford Lake. This contribution will help expand our support of the Three Sisters and Medicine Gardens at the park in partnership with Ojibiikaan Indigenous Cultural Network.
