Community Savings presented a financial 101 course to migrant workers who belong to United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW Canada) local 1518. It was a privilege to help these workers navigate the Canadian banking system and how to safeguard their hard-earned funds. . Kudos to our Thelma Rodriguez, MSR, Port Coquitlam branch, for presenting the financial awareness course in Spanish to the attendees. Her passion to support workers led to her winning the 2023 Gary Gillam Award, which is awarded for social responsibility within the Canadian credit union system. . Thank you to UFCW 1518 and Diana Pérez for the opportunity and hosting the event for the workers at Highline Mushroom farms.
