About us
Churchill Wild specializes in ground-level walking tours through the polar bear inhabited regions of Arctic Canada. We own and operate the only remote lodges on Canada’s Hudson Bay coast, which is home to the largest and most accessible polar bear population on the planet. We pioneered Polar Bear Walking Safaris in 1993 and have been offering up-close polar bear encounters from July through November ever since with a 100% success rate in every season, due to our wildly exclusive locations. Meet Luke Kolla, one of our Polar Bear Guides! From the tranquil shores of Cultus Lake, BC, Luke’s passion for the outdoors runs deep. When he’s not canoeing, camping, or playing with his two dogs and cat, he’s likely found immersed in the forest, mastering edible berry identification or honing ancient fire-making techniques. Luke’s guiding journey began in the Coast Mountains of BC, where he fell in love with paddling. This passion led him to spend over a decade guiding and teaching canoe expeditions through the rugged landscapes of British Columbia and the Yukon. It was during these backcountry adventures that his deep respect for bears took root. In 2021, Luke ventured into bear monitoring, working in remote northern regions, including the high Arctic. His expertise has supported conservation efforts across BC, Northern Alberta, and beyond. Today, Luke brings his wealth of wilderness knowledge and bear experience to Churchill Wild, where he continues to live his passion for the wild while guiding unforgettable adventures! #EmployeeHighlight #ChurchillWild

🎉 Celebrating Manitoba Tourism at TIAC Congress 2024! Travel Manitoba and our incredible tourism community had a fantastic time at the Tourism Industry Association of Canada’s Congress in Vancouver, December 3-5, held at the Sheraton Hotels & Resorts Wall Centre Hotel. 🏆 Congratulations to Wild Loon Adventure Company and owner Garrett Fache for winning the Sustainable Tourism Award at the #CanadianTourismAwards! This recognition celebrates their dedication to showcasing Manitoba’s Heritage Rivers and backcountry waterways while honouring the land and the Indigenous communities who have traveled these paths for centuries. 👏 A special congratulations to Churchill Wild’s co-founders, Mike and Jeanne Reimer, who received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. Churchill Wild has redefined adventure tourism with its pioneering polar bear safari, offering guests the rare opportunity to safely walk among polar bears in the breathtaking sub-arctic landscape. 💡 Travel Manitoba’s Cody Chomiak, CDME, Vice-President of Marketing, contributed to an insightful panel about the strength of brand and the future of tourism alongside Raymond Ludwin from Air Canada and Wendy Kubota, ABC from tentree and moderated by Gloria Loree from Destination Canada. This Arctic fox wiggled its way through our fence at Seal River Heritage Lodge, giving us the most adorable puppy dog eyes, hoping for an invite inside. It was tough to resist, but we had to say no. Déjà Polar Bear. An Award-Winning Arctic Return. https://lnkd.in/gSvwsbv8 Talk about déjà vu. As Ben and Rita Griffin’s plane touched down at Seal River Heritage Lodge in 2024 for their Summer Dual Lodge Safari, they could hardly believe their eyes. Just like their first Churchill Wild adventure in 2018 on the Arctic Safari, a polar bear was there to welcome them. Meet Nicole Spinks, the energetic and enthusiastic Lodge Manager at Seal River Heritage Lodge! With her bubbly personality, go-getter attitude, and keen organizational skills, Nicole brings a unique blend of warmth and professionalism to the Churchill Wild team. Before joining us in 2018, Nicole’s path was anything but ordinary. A former competitive gymnast and national cheerleader, she later pursued a career in Developmental Psychology, working with young adults with autism. Eventually, her passion for adventure led her to the hospitality industry, where she served as a dining room manager at a fishing lodge and an onsite manager at a wilderness lodge in Tasmania, Australia. Nicole’s heart belongs to the wilderness. She cherishes the remoteness of the lodge, saying, “The landscape is breathtaking and constantly changing. Watching the tide reshape the coastline is incredible.” Her first polar bear encounter was unforgettable: “I couldn’t believe this was my life—witnessing these majestic creatures daily reminds me how small we are in the grand scheme of things.” Thank you, Nicole, for your dedication, passion, and love for the wild! #ChurchillWild #EmployeeHighlight
