As the year winds down, we’re reflecting on a season of growth, innovation, and milestones that give us hope for the future. When Cascadia Seaweed was founded in 2019, we saw an opportunity to create a solid business that enhanced the natural environment and provided economic opportunities for coastal communities. Now, we know the opportunity — and our imperative — expands much further. Cascadia Seaweed is on a mission to build a more climate-resilient food system with seaweed-based agricultural products: liquid biostimulants for plants and soil, and dried feed supplements for animals. We are targeting sales to large-scale agriculture, starting with our liquid biostimulants, to help the industry increase yields while decreasing emissions. It’s sustainable aquaculture supporting regenerative agriculture — a circular system where every touchpoint makes a positive impact. Many thanks to our amazing team, our First Nations partners, our shareholders and customers! In 2025, we hope to support even more producers with cost effective, natural solutions to help build a climate resilient food system. 🌱 All the best for a happy and healthy holiday season!

About us
Cascadia Seaweed, founded in 2019, is a vertically integrated AgTech Company dedicated to addressing climate change and food security. We cultivate local species of seaweed on low-impact ocean farms in partnership with coastal First Nations. We then harvest that seaweed and manufacture agricultural products for land-based farmers that increase yields and reduce emissions. As a certified B Corp and registered Benefit Company in British Columbia, we are committed to building a profitable and scalable business that our team members, shareholders, and business partners can take pride in.

Wonderful to see Michael Williamson and Robert Napoli featured in a recent Global AgInvesting article featuring our Series A fundraising efforts! "Farmers are facing a perfect storm of shrinking arable land, degraded soils and higher input costs, all exacerbated by regulatory requirements to lower emissions. Cascadia Seaweed seeks to address these headwinds through its ag products derived from cultivated seaweed, including liquid kelp extracts made from nutrient-dense brown seaweeds." Today is World Soil Day! "We're highlighting the role of healthy soils in food security, biodiversity and climate action under the theme Caring for Soils: Measure, Monitor, Manage." - FAO DYK that our cultivated #seaweed gets processed into liquid biostimulants that aid in soil health? We've run some exciting trials recently with Kwantlen Polytechnic University on Lettuce and Tomatoes, both with positive results! "Cascadia's liquid kelp extract boosted harvest biomass on Lettuce, with soil drench outperforming foliar application, and increased tomato yield, especially when used with reduced-strength fertilizer." Next up, a strawberry trial with the National Research Council Canada / Conseil national de recherches Canada!

"World Soil Day (WSD) is held annually on 5 December as a means to focus attention on the importance of healthy soil and advocating for the sustainable management of soil resources." A very important topic to the team at Cascadia Seaweed. Kelps are naturally nutrient-dense, containing a complex mixture of biologically active compounds that benefit root development and plant growth. When used as a biostimulant, they enrich the soil promoting healthier and more productive crops while promoting overall soil health. To grow, kelp does not require arable land, freshwater, fertilizers or pesticides, and when used in agriculture can reduce the need for synthetic fertilizers, contributing to circular, nature-based solutions to food security and climate change. ___ https://lnkd.in/gGWX8set FAO #WorldSoilDay #GlobalGoals #SDGs #Seaweed #Kelp #NatureBasedSolutions

Today is National Indigenous Veterans Day. 🌺 On Monday, Cascadia's CEO, Michael Williamson, will be a guest commentator at the Remembrance Day Ceremony in Sidney, BC. With relevant experience to share, Michael’s participation underscores our team’s commitment to honouring our true history, recognizing the military service of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples, and supporting local initiatives. #IndigenousVeteransDay #CanadaRemembers
I have the honour to be a guest commentator at the Sidney, BC Remembrance Day services on November 11th this year, for Radio Sidney #radiosidney. My time in uniform (1976-2008), and final posting as a Naval Captain as Base Commander at CFB Esquimalt, gave me the opportunity to meet a diverse group of men and women serving in the Canadian Forces. On Monday, I’ll recognize the service of the thousands of Indigenous people who overcame language barriers, cultural differences, and the challenges of remote locations to serve with skill and dedication in the First World War, Second World War, Korean War, and in other combat missions. If you have the chance, consider attending Remembrance Day ceremonies honouring all Veterans in your own communities, Lest We Forget. #cascadiaseaweed
