Sharing this incredible report on the economic impact of Ontario's defined-benefit pension plans. The Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP), OPTrust and University Pension Plan provided funding and support for this Conference Board of Canada research. Some highlights we found interesting: ➡️ DB pension plans paid out $42.7 billion to beneficiaries in 2023, generating an incredible $60.9 billion in economic output for Ontario. ➡️ The spending of DB pension payments on goods, services and taxes contributed $34.6 billion or 3.2 per cent to Ontario's GDP. ➡️ DB pension payments also added $17.4 billion in government revenue, including $6.3 billion in provincial taxes.

Sharing some very interesting research from the Ontario Securities Commission. The OSC partnered with Ipsos to survey Canadians 50 years of age or older. Their goal was to understand the experiences and expectations of retirees and pre-retirees. Some key findings: ◼ A notable number of retirees (15 per cent) and pre-retirees (24 per cent) rated their financial situation as poor. ◼ Many retirees (34 per cent) and pre-retirees (37 per cent) did not have any investment products.
