Giving Tuesday is here! While you're probably familiar with the shopping events like Black Friday and Cyber Monday that come after the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, you might not be as well-acquainted with the global day of giving that follows. Although it’s officially observed on the first Tuesday after Black Friday, the spirit and impact of Giving Tuesday often extends well beyond just 24 hours. This year, CBCN is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Use Giving Tuesday as an opportunity to spark a chain reaction that will enable us to continue improving the lives of breast cancer patients, their families, and caregivers across Canada through education, advocacy and networking. Support breast cancer patients and their families today: https://cbcn.ca/en/donate

How can policymakers and health system decision-makers work towards reducing inequalities in metastatic breast cancer care? Working with an international group of experts, we have identified three priority areas of action for policymakers to ensure people with metastatic breast cancer receive equitable care: 🟣 Addressing structural and systemic barriers to care 🔵 Ensuring access to appropriate care along the pathway 🟠 Improving patient experience, involvement and empowerment. These priority areas are explored in a set of policy briefs. The briefs provide an overview of key opportunities at all levels to reduce inequalities in care for people with metastatic breast cancer, and to enhance patient experiences and outcomes. Policymakers must identify how to improve current practices and take immediate action to optimise accessible care for all. https://lnkd.in/eW5GwdPm #bcsm #BreastCancerAwareness #MetastaticBreastCancer

How can policy better support people with metastatic breast cancer (MBC)? A set of four policy briefs outlining how we can begin to reduce inequalities in MBC care has been recently published. The first of the policy briefs – ‘Reducing inequalities in metastatic breast cancer care: an overview’ – provides a summary of the impact of MBC and the current landscape of care. It sets out three areas of focus for policymakers, which will be explored in more detail in the subsequent three policy briefs. Though MBC is largely incurable, new and ever-emerging treatments can allow people with MBC to live longer, fulfilling lives. Yet many MBC patients experience barriers in access to best-practice care, with people from underserved communities facing exacerbated disparities. Please read the brief and share it with your network: https://lnkd.in/eMjfaui8 #bcsm #breastcancerawareness #metastaticbreastcancer
