Thrilled to share more exciting news! Accelerate Fund III announced today its investment in Fluid Biomed Inc. Accelerate Fund was an early participant in the investor syndicate leading to their recently announced oversubscribed Series A financing. “Unlike traditional metal stents, Fluid Biomed’s innovative polymer-based technology dissolves over time, enabling better healing and preserving future treatment options,” said Arden Tse, Investment Manager, Accelerate Fund. “We’re impressed with the team’s strong regulatory expertise and are excited to support their clinical advancement alongside leading life science investors.” #ABTech #LifeSciences #VC #Medtech

We invest in VC funds that have a track record of success, strong global networks & a demonstrated commitment to Alberta
About us
We invest in venture capital funds, not companies. Formed as an independent corporation in 2008, Alberta Enterprise is a key component of the Government of Alberta’s goal of building a more sustainable, diversified technology industry in Alberta, one where home-grown innovation is encouraged and technology entrepreneurs have greater access to venture capital. Our mission is to promote the development of Alberta’s venture capital (VC) industry. We achieve this by investing in VC funds that finance early stage technology companies and that have a commitment to Alberta – including a full-time presence in the province. We also support Alberta’s VC ecosystem by connecting investors, entrepreneurs, and experienced technology veterans who share our passion for building a bright, innovative Alberta. In the long term, our activities will help Alberta claim a larger share of the venture capital invested in Canada. We anticipate venture funds will be more active in pursuing investments here with local lead investors and in looking at Alberta-based companies and technologies. Alberta’s investment community will also be better networked within Alberta, across Canada and internationally. - See more at: http://www.alberta-enterprise.ca/?page_id=13#sthash.vW9BIrL1.dpuf

Last Monday we hosted our first Pitch Night, bringing in 4 Calgary-based founders to pitch to a curated group of 25 investors. Pitches were formatted around a 4-minute pitch, and 15 minute Q&A period. No pitch decks, just the founders and their story. Congratulations to Joel Nicholson, Omar Sabbagh, Braeden Pauls, and Saroosh Gull for pitching, and a huge thank you to our investors who made it out. More nights like this to come! A huge thank you to Alberta Enterprise Corporation (AEC) and Aperture Group for sponsoring this event, as well as Cameron MacCarthy and Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) for being core partners of Long Calgary.
