Summary:
This role will manage, maintain, and support FuelCell Energy’s Azure cloud-based infrastructure to ensure consistent, reliable, and secure operations, while maximizing the value of subscribed systems and services.
This is a hands-on technologist role, reporting to the Director of Infrastructure Services, and will have responsibility for all aspects of the company’s cloud-base computing infrastructure and services.
Essential Functions/Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess current Azure instance and create continuous improvement roadmap.
- Define cloud systems strategy to maximize the return on IT investments, while meeting or exceeding uptime and performance expectations.
- Design, plan, and implement Azure based systems and services in support of functional, storage, compute, data integration, and systems security initiatives.
- Closely collaborate with IT Security and internal Engineering teams to ensure that new or updated solutions and services comply with the enterprise cyber security standards.
- Proactively identify and apply system updates to prevent issues, strengthen security, tune performance, automate tasks, and manage costs.
- Monitor Azure systems operations and address alerts, anomalies, and issues
- Support HA, DR, Backup, and retention policies on Azure platforms using native options and third-party tools like Rubric.
- Maintain zero trust endpoint security with tools such as Z-scalar.
- Manage cloud networking and security (Firewalls, NSGs, ASGs, WAFs) and monitor the logging of systems.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of IT policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with IT General Controls, provide needed information in support of audits and to substantiate process and controls compliance.
- Produce documentation that allows other staff members to understand the deployment and maintain and troubleshoot it.
- Contribute to non-cloud infrastructure projects and activities as skills and time avails.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: High school education at minimum, bachelor’s degree in technology related major preferred
- Experience: Minimum 10 years of IT experience, with at least of 5 years working in an Azure cloud environment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Expertise in Azure cloud system oversight, performance tuning, and administration.
- Strong knowledge of cloud security technologies and best practices
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code: design and security, configuration management, integration, deployment, performance monitoring and tuning, automation of infrastructure.
- Experience with ARM templates and Terraform to enable automation.
- Experience with Active Directory Administration, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy Administration
- Experience with networking and networking protocols & services
- Familiarity with deployment techniques (and tools) in a distributed environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with a high degree of comfort with varying types of audiences
- Emotional intelligence, flexible work style, and excellent diplomatic skills across all levels of an organization
- Experience designing and delivering complex solutions on time and with expected quality.
- Experience supporting various compliance and regulatory frameworks.
- Ability to multi-task, establish priorities, work independently, mange time, and deliver on commitments.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Hybrid on-site in Danbury, CT preferred, but will consider full-time remote, with periodic travel to company offices and manufacturing facilities.
(1 to 4 trips per year – approximately 5% travel)
