The second edition of the I-REC Standard Conference (ISC), concluded with Keynote 8: Interoperable Tracking Mechanisms across the Energy Value Chain This final session provided a deep dive into the separate processes for Scope 1, 2, and 3 emission reporting that are no longer considered in isolation, highlighting how EACs are well-positioned to bridge the gap between elements of the supply chain as an integral tool in providing a trustworthy and transparent account of the energy attributes of a product or process despite the increasing scrutiny on supply chain emissions. However, as panelists explain, this will only be possible through the interoperability of tracking mechanisms. The second day of the I-REC Standard Conference (ISC) 2024 began with two popular sessions: Session 6A: Volumes and Prices – Value of Renewables Around the World, which focused on all the volumes and prices involved with GO and I-REC(E) markets - the current prices and forward prices – and the volatility of the markets, highlighting ways to boost demand and the impact of prices on renewables. The ISC2024 Dinner Party hosted by ACT Group, took place at Restaurante Selvagem located within the beautiful Ibirapuera Park of Sao Paulo. The first day of the I-REC Standard Conference (ISC) 2024 has concluded with Keynote 5: End-user Round Table. The end-user round table focused on how I-REC(E) fits into buyers’ operations and ambitions regarding renewable energy use. Panelists answered questions from the audience on the common challenges they face in the field, namely, how to motivate other consumers who are not as committed and what steps they can take in convincing their suppliers. Buyers on the panel expanded on their preferences in purchasing renewables (new capacity, certain technologies, etc.). Session 4A: I-REC(E) Growth in Emerging Markets This session focused on countries where grid coverage is limited, highlighting the importance of including countries and regions where grid connectivity is not a given such as fragile states, and in such places that distributed energy generation is more practical. The impact of small-scale energy generation in those countries is huge, and should not be overlooked by the Western World as renewables in those regions bring enormous social benefits.

With over half the registered delegates in attendance, the ISC2024 Get-together, hosted by STX Group, provided pre-conference registered delegates an extra networking opportunity in a cozy environment and a small, but impressive taste of Brazil.
