Great to see my hometown for the last 6 years Pouso Alegre, a city in southern Minas Gerais, making waves in the business world, attracting R$ 1 billion in private investments last year with similar expectations for 2024. With 80% of its GDP coming from the industrial and service sectors, this city is proving to be a lucrative destination for international companies. The success of Pouso Alegre can be attributed to its strategic location, conducive business environment, and efficient administrative policies. Major companies like MIDEA Group União Química Farmacêutica Nacional, Biolab Sanus Farmacêutica, Grupo Cimed ACG World, General Mills, YOFC PERU S.A.C and XCMG Group have already recognized the potential of this city and have invested significantly in various sectors, from appliances and pharmaceuticals to food. It's time for international companies to start looking outside the big cities for opportunities. Pouso Alegre's success story is a testament to the potential that smaller cities hold for business growth and development. M&A | Concordo com a Bain & Company quando afirma que, nos últimos 20 anos (período que coincide com minha carreira na área), o contexto de fusões e aquisições (M&A) evoluiu consideravelmente. As empresas que realizam aquisições frequentes têm obtido mais sucesso e maior retorno em comparação com aquelas que não realizam aquisições ou que as fazem esporadicamente. Essa vantagem tem aumentado consistentemente ao longo do tempo. “It’s time to retire the myth that most M&A destroys value. Two decades ago, more mergers and acquisitions failed than succeeded. But in the intervening years, companies have done deals worth $56 trillion—the result of a lot of experience and several hard-won lessons. One clear takeaway is that companies that make frequent acquisitions have over double the odds of success. In addition, frequent acquirers earn more than double the returns of those on the M&A sidelines, an advantage that has only grown over time.
