Publishers vão se aliar a OpenAI Aqui só um primeiro exeplo como : OpenAI has struck a deal with Reddit OpenAI will use content from the social media platform for its artificial intelligence chatbot, sending shares in the company up as much as 15 per cent in after-hours trading. Thursday’s announcement is the latest in a number of deals between the Microsoft-backed start-up and media brands as the competition for high-quality and reliable data to underpin powerful new AI models intensifies. At the same time, OpenAI is fighting copyright lawsuits from publishers who are reluctant to allow their content to be used by the ChatGPT-maker. The agreement gives OpenAI access to content on Reddit’s website and will allow the social media platform to embed more AI tools. Financial terms were not disclosed, but a jump in Reddit’s stock would mean a windfall for Sam Altman, the co-founder and chief executive of OpenAI, who has invested tens of millions of dollars into the social media group. Altman, who has said he has no equity stake in OpenAI, held close to 10 per cent of Reddit’s stock ahead of its public listing in March via various entities, according to public filings. The 39-year-old, a serial entrepreneur and investor, did not lead the negotiations with Reddit, according to OpenAI. The deal will also be a boon to Reddit’s monetisation efforts, which have until now mainly focused on building up its advertising-based business model. On its roadshow ahead of its listing, Reddit told investors that it also hoped to see a windfall from selling its data to third parties so that they could train their AI. It has already struck deals with Google and Cision. OpenAI has struck a series of deals with publishers this year, including the Financial Times, US-based Associated Press, Germany’s Axel Springer, France’s Le Monde and Spain’s Prisa Media. Those deals give the San Francisco-based start-up access to material which can in turn be used to develop and run generative AI technology that can create text, images and code from human prompts. “We are thrilled to partner with Reddit to enhance ChatGPT with uniquely timely and relevant information, and to explore the possibilities to enrich the Reddit experience with AI-powered features,” said Brad Lightcap, OpenAI’s chief operating officer. Including Reddit in ChatGPT “upholds our belief in a connected internet, helps people find more or what they’re looking for, and helps new audiences find community on Reddit”, said Steve Huffman, Reddit’s co-founder and chief executive. While some media brands have partnered with OpenAI, others have resisted. The New York Times and other publishers have instead sued OpenAI and Microsoft for harvesting their articles. In December, the NYT filed a lawsuit seeking billions of dollars in damages from the two companies for “profit[ing] from the massive copyright infringement, commercial exploitation and misappropriation of The Times’s intellectual property”.

In developing countries characterized by economic inequality, scaling up a profitable quick commerce company can be possible due to the combination of low-cost logistics and high-margin baskets. However, the challange is replicating this success in developed markets like mid-EU, UK & USA. It requires a different approach in people management and a significantly more sophisticated courier optimization algorithm to maintain efficiency and profitability in a more competitive and costly environment.

Brazil's acquiring market has exploded in the last 12 years. Once dominated by a VisaNet and Redecard duopoly, everything changed when something impressive happened in 2010: The Brazilian government decided to liberalize the payments market. This move was massive, and I've had a front-row seat to watch its impact unfold. → The third acquirer to enter was Santander. → One of the most dramatic entries was Adyen from Europe. Their cutting-edge product innovation and global experience in disruptive payment solutions allowed them to outperform incumbents and bring a wave of innovation to the Brazilian payment market. → Today we're looking at a market with 30+ acquirers. The competition is fierce, and the innovation is palpable. Brazil is the most complex market for card payments I've seen. You've got: - Installments & Anticipation - Rules by the central bank - Rules by the Card schemes That all works in ways I've never seen anywhere in the world. But this complexity has driven innovation. Now, merchants have access to better services, more options, and increasingly sophisticated products. It's taken about 12 years, but now Brazil is where it wants to be. It's a testament to how regulatory changes can spark a revolution in an industry.

Regulation of Artificial Intelligence: An Urgent Need for Brazil. A recent survey I conducted through IDEIA shows a clear trend: over 70% of Brazilians believe it is essential to establish regulations for artificial intelligence (AI). This survey, reflecting growing awareness of AI's impacts, underscores the urgent need for a robust and effective regulatory framework to ensure the ethical and safe use of this emerging technology. I want to share with you some crucial factors from this research: 1. Protection of User Rights: AI regulation helps protect individual rights, ensuring that their information is used ethically and responsibly. 2. Safe Innovation: Clear standards encourage innovation within safe limits, promoting the development of AI solutions that benefit society without compromising security. 3. Bias Reduction: Establishing rigorous criteria for AI development and implementation can help reduce biases, promoting fairness and equity in automated decisions. An international example of such regulation is the European Union. We can learn a lot from the European Union, which is at the forefront of creating a comprehensive regulatory framework for AI. The EU AI Act sets strict criteria for identifying and mitigating risks associated with complex systems, requiring developers to meet stringent safeguards before bringing their technologies to market. This type of regulation is essential to ensure that AI models are safe and ethical. So, what is the best path for Brazil? I believe that in Brazil, following examples of international legislation can be an effective way to ensure that AI use is beneficial and safe. It is essential for policymakers, companies, and civil society to work together to develop a regulatory framework that reflects Brazilian needs and values. The IDEIA survey, coordinated by me, highlights a clear consensus: AI regulation is necessary not only to mitigate risks but also to foster a responsible innovation environment. Implementing well-defined standards can ensure that AI positively contributes to society, promoting technological advances that respect and protect individual rights. The Central Bank of Brazil (BACEN) is about to launch a new feature that leverages NFC (Near-Field Communication) technology to allow contactless payments using PIX. Users can now initiate transactions by simply tapping their smartphones or NFC-enabled cards at POS terminals. Definitely a breakthrough. By eliminating the need to scan QR codes or manually enter information, transactions become frictionless and faster. Also, Integrating NFC for PIX payments means it can be easily incorporated into public transport and retail chains... the sky is the limit. Hot take: This is the beginning of the end of the country's debit/credit card transactions. Any store, marketplace, or e-commerce, big or small, will definitely choose this option over any other option. I'm only talking about a one-time payment. I'm not considering (for now) using credit cards for instalments. This is part of the Brazilian payment culture.
