Description of Service Opportunity:
The MCAS Prep Courses are a four day, in person course designed to support students in need of academic support who are preparing to take the MCAS Math and or ELA Subject Exam to satisfy state graduation requirements.

The course will run during the 2024 February Break on the following dates: Tues February 20 - Friday February 23, 8:00 am -12:00 pm.
Courses will be offered by invitation to students who have not passed the 10th grade assessment or current 10th graders with a history of not meeting proficiency.
The course will focus on practicing MCAS test questions in a supportive atmosphere with peers and learning test preparation/ test taking strategies.
Each day will include collaborative problem solving, individual capacity building, and instruction around test preparation/ test taking strategies.
The course has a maximum 1:10 teacher/student ratio to ensure enrolled students receive personalized support.
The Math MCAS Retest Preparation Teacher, under the direction of the MCAS Preparation Course Site Leader and Dean of Math Curriculum, will be responsible for all duties connected with facilitating math instruction as well as other duties required within the program to help maintain and foster a school climate that promotes high expectations of all students.
Teachers will be provided with the course structure and materials, and will be expected to engage in daily lesson planning, including differentiation and personalization of content where applicable.
Time Commitment:
The anticipated time commitment for the MCAS Retest Preparation Site Coordinator is 25 hours between January 29 - February 24, 2022.
This includes 16 onsite hours during the program week and up to 9 hours of program preparation and set up time.
Minimum Requirements:
Teachers must have the ability to teach students of diverse learning styles and grade levels.
Preference given to regularly appointed teachers from Cambridge Public School District.
