The learning specialist provides special education services as designated by a student’s IEP.
Conservatory Lab Charter School seeks individuals who are passionate about supporting students to meet their full potential.
We seek motivated, insightful individuals are excited to collaborate with content teachers to plan and implement learning experiences that advance the intellectual, social, emotional and physical development of students.
The ideal candidate will have experience analyzing student needs, designing c hands-on experiences to support student learning, supporting implementation of students’ accommodations and modifying grade level work.
The learning specialist will help discern how to provide access to grade level standards with supportive learning experiences while building foundational skills.
The learning specialist should have experience supporting both academic and social emotional supports.
The learning specialist will provide direct service to students, as well as partner with academic and music teachers to support student learning.
In addition, the learning specialist should have experience with research based interventions, including a rules based reading program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Partner with lead teacher to support optimal learning environment for students
Co-plan lessons with academic teachers to support student learning
Provide push-in and pull-out support as designated by students’ IEPs
Write IEP goals matched to student needs
Write IEP all reports related to student progress on their IEP
Attend all IEP meetings in accordance with assigned students
Provide service delivery for students including RTI support for at risk students
Develop individualized behavior plans to support self-regulation goals
Consult with academic and music teacher to design and support implementation of students’ accommodations
Enforce school and class rules and routines to help students maintain scholarly behavior
Lead small group and individual instruction using identified scientific, research based interventions focused specifically on individual student difficulties
Maintain records of interventions and progress monitoring to insure fidelity of implementation
Assist the lead teacher in maintaining two way communication with families, including attending team/parent meetings as required
Assist with universal screening of students
Assist with all testing accommodations
Utilize tracking systems to maintain lists of students participating in interventions
Supervise student groups as assigned by the schedule
Utilize feedback to reflect on skills and improve performance to improve supports for students
Perform related duties as requested to support a safe learning environment
Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Principal
Qualifications:
Special Education license
Experience working in an urban environment
Reading license (preferred)
Bilingual - Spanish, Cape Verdean Creole, Haitian Creole
Ability to work closely and collaborate on a professional team
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Strong oral communication skills
Flexible and able to work in a fast paced environment
Salary commensurate with experience.
