about
When I played those acoustic guitar chords and came up with the first lyric of "As you sit upon the lighthouse," I knew I had accidentally stumbled onto something, and I had to see it through.
Sunny's father passed away at some point during her life. Truly seeing this in the G5 movie stuck with me, I guess. Although neither my father or my stepfather have passed away, I was a child in the middle of a messy divorce, which was an event that permanently affected my views on my family and even romance.
Sunny, I know I didn't go through what you went through, our stories don't align perfectly, but if you need somepony to talk to as we watch the ocean below perpetually move from the roof of the Lighthouse, I will listen.
A massive thank you and a fantastic work to 4EverfreeBrony for providing that unbelievable guitar solo! Actual mastermind work right there, you can find links to his stuff in the credits, go check out his outstanding music!!
lyrics
[Intro]
"One, two, three"
[Verse 1]
As you sit upon the lighthouse, as you watch the ocean roll
As the boats return to harbor, as the moon begins to glow
I can feel the pain that you feel, even if it doesn't show
When you lose the greatest heart that you'll probably ever know
[Verse 2]
When I was just a kid, I thought the world would be mine
But the statement had been made, the ring would fall off in due time
I just wish that I could help you, tell you everything is fine
But I struggle with the words, for there are parts that don't align
[Interlude]
[Verse 3]
Now as you walk the streets of your good ol' Maretime Bay
You can picture him beside you, and everything he'd say
But the clouds begin to hover, and the ghost begins to fade
As you step upon the road, your teardrops lost within the rain
[Verse 4]
I was forced into a new home, but the family wasn't right
I was told it would be better, but two years became a fight
Soon, I lost my sense of purpose, I had given up the light
Cause you left me in the rearview, you were miles out of sight
[Interlude]
[Solo: 4EverfreeBrony]
[Outro]
So can we sit together, can we watch the ocean roll
As the boats return to harbor, as the moon begins to glow?
Cause I understand your heartache, even if it doesn't show
We can talk about it all night, I just want to let you know
