An IEO is a method of raising funds by issuing and selling tokens through a cryptocurrency exchange to promote a decentralized project born from a community. My Web3 community, DICT - Design, Innovation, Co-Creation, Technology, was founded on March 1, 2022 at DICT CUBE TOKYO in Yoyogi, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, and two years have passed quickly. This initiative is part of my social experiment as an academic research on innovation management, but I believe it will be the first IEO and cryptocurrency listing in Japan for an unincorporated project incubation. The theory of the "Innovator's Dilemma", which was proposed by the late Professor Clayton Christensen, a renowned American businessman and business scholar, and which is now becoming a classic, and the concept of "disruptive innovation" are fatal threats and challenges in this era that large scale of governments, companies, and organizations face that cannot be ignored any more. As a prescription for this issue, I wanted to spread DICT's approach to society, not just as a theory, but as a practice! That is my interest as a social entrepreneur, investor, and social physicist, and the idea behind founding DICT. DICT has been co-creating an average of two projects per month since its founding. These projects are always monetized as small businesses, and community members practice business through the planning and management of these projects like MBA program. And such decentralized autonomous organization has already created 10 startup companies in the past two years, one of which has achieved astonishing high performance, with first-year sales exceeding $1 million USD and achieving an exit through M&A. It may be hard to believe, but all the other companies have been in the black since their first year. Of course, it's not just business, but NPO, NGO, education, regional revitalization, and more are also actually launched as a project. 💰 A Major Cryptocurrency Scam Worth Billions of Dollars 🏦 The scandal surrounding the OneCoin project has become one of the biggest scams in the history of the crypto industry, causing billions of dollars in damages to investors. In 2014, Bulgarian citizens Ruja and Konstantin Ignatov created a supposedly new cryptocurrency using blockchain technology. However, OneCoin was actually a financial pyramid scheme with no real basis. 💰 The scheme attracted millions of people by promising profits from mining. Money from new investors went to pay early participants, while the Ignatovs withdrew massive sums into their accounts. It is estimated that between 2 and 4 million people were victimized, and the total amount raised was about $4 billion. 👮‍♂️ Despite clear signs of fraud, the scammers operated until 2017 when authorities launched an investigation. This scandal has significantly damaged the reputation of the crypto industry. ⚠️ Such problems could have been avoided if cryptocurrency holders had used blockchain analytics tools at the time.
