Why do business in #Bulgaria? 📍 Positioned next to Turkey and the Black Sea, Bulgaria is the southeastern gateway to Europe. It joined the EU in 2007 and earlier this year it started transitioning into the Schengen Zone. The Bulgarian lev is pegged to the euro at 1.96, ensuring currency stability through a currency board. 🛣️ Bulgaria is a logistics hub with five Pan-European corridors (IV, VII, VII, XI, X), the TRACECA transport programme, four major airports, two main seaports, and numerous Danube River ports. This location provides direct access to key markets such as the EU, CIS, Turkey, the Middle East, and North Africa. 💼 The country has one of Europe's most favourable tax regimes, with a corporate income tax rate of 10%, the lowest in the EU, and a flat personal income tax rate of 10%. Additionally, there is a 2-year VAT exemption for equipment imports for investment projects over €5 million that create at least 50 jobs. Depreciation time for computers and new manufacturing equipment is 2 years, and a 5% withholding tax applies to dividends and liquidation quotas (0% for EU tax residents). 👩💼👷♂️ Bulgaria's labour costs are among the lowest in CEE, while their population is well-educated, skilled, and multilingual, with a high percentage of students proficient in foreign languages and widespread internet access in schools. 🏙️ Last year, Emerging Europe ranked Sofia to have the 8th best business climate across the regions they cover (CEE, SEE and the Baltics) in terms of the having most conducive regulatory environment for business growth, where the prevalence of corruption and bureaucratic obstacles is minimal, and where all stakeholders exhibit a positive outlook toward business activities. 🏗️ CTP has been helping international and domestic clients — like Sameday, Quehenberger, Maxima, Lagermax, and DSV — in Bulgaria for over three years. CTPark Sofia had a special Children's Day last week! 💙 We managed to raise nearly 400 EUR for the children's charity "With faith in goodness, give hope" — a local initiative that raises money for children receiving medical treatment by selling toys knit by a collective of local women.
