The EU is investing in a cleaner, greener future. The European Commission has disbursed €2.7 billion via the Modernisation Fund to support 39 clean energy projects in 8 EU countries, including Slovenia for the first time. These investments will: ✅ Strengthen clean industrial sectors ✅ Boost energy efficiency and renewable energy ✅ Help achieve 2030 climate and energy targets Since its launch in 2021, the #ModernisationFund has mobilised €15.45 billion from EU emissions trading revenues, showing how climate and industrial policies can go hand in hand to drive innovation and reduce emissions. Restoring nature pays off. Today marks the 2-year anniversary of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, when 196 countries agreed on a roadmap to halt and reverse nature loss by 2030. 📍 This floodplains project near Antwerp (Belgium) provides flood protection and restores nature and biodiversity all along the Scheldt river and its tributaries. And the benefits are much greater than the costs. According to two new reports by the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), immediate action to address the biodiversity crisis could unlock massive business and innovation opportunities, generating $10 trillion and supporting 395 million jobs worldwide by 2030. In Q2 2024, the EU’s greenhouse gas emissions fell by 2.6% compared to the same quarter last year 📉, while GDP grew by 1% 📈 showing that we can decarbonise while boosting jobs and growth.
